My first game was Arsenal away in September 1986.

We drew 0-0 but my main memory is of milk bottles flying though the air.

Full story is here

I actually saw us play the Arse four times that year, including League Cup semi-final heartbreak.

I'm sure others have had more momentous and positive starts to their Spurs-watching careers

25th September 1995 away to QPR at Loftus Road. 2-0 down at half time but a Sheringham double and one from Dozzell got us a 3-2 win. Super Teddy penno right after the restart if I recall correctly. Sat with my Stepdad (QPR fan) in the home end and went spastic at every goal. His mates weren't impressed.

I was at that game also.

My first game was boxing day 1987 against Luton. Paxton road end still all standing. I went with my dad and my maternal granddad (both huge Spurs fans)

I was almost 7 and although the game was probably the worse most boring 0-0 draw in the history of the game with the only notable incident being a missed Terry Fenwick Penalty, I absolutely fell in love with football and Spurs and loved every minute of it from sitting on my dads shoulders watching the game to wearing my yellow tottenham scarf and hat with a brooch that was bought for my sister.

I'll never forget it, I went to about 4 more games that season and Waddle became my hero.

thfc1989 and robbie's tits, yeah, sorry about that. i post elsewhere, i just don't start threads, because most subjects are already covered and i just join in. check my profile or whatever it's called and you'll see i chip in here, there and everywhere.

also, feel free not to click on the links.

ParkLane, I was at that game too. QPR away is possibly my favourite away trip. Really hope they make it back up.

Anger Mangagement, yeah, was at that Luton game as well. Fenwick, I bloody hated Fenwick. Remember when he scored a rare goal and wheeled away to celebrate in front of a completely empty East Stand (they were redeveloping). What a tool.

Chris, don't remember that game, but I had a season ticket that year, so must have been there. And what a year it was.

3-3 at home against Liverpool, must have been about '92 or '93, still one of the best games I've seen at the lane.

Was that the game where a young Robbie Fowler scored 2 (or maybe even a hat trick) I remember one of his goals was top draw, he really was an excellent striker.
If so I was at that game with my old man.

I don't know why, but I always expected you to be an older poster so it surprises me that your first game was not until the 90's (must learn not to make assumptions)

yeah, if that's the one, i was in the east stand that day and i remember thinking that the kid fowler was the most natural finisher i've ever seen. still think the lad could and should have been even better than he was. his hat trick against arsenal was a joy to watch.

90/91 season at home to Derby. We won 3-0 and Gazza scored a hat trick. I got to meet him afterwards as well.

One of my favourite games of all time! I remember getting back to our pub and a gooner friend asked me the score:

Me: 3-0

Him: Oh shit. Did he score?

Me: Er, yeah, all three. But I swear to God, even if he hadn't, it would still have been the best midfield performance anyone will see all season.

It was easy to get hooked on Spurs in those days. Paul Walsh was also a joy to watch though obviously not as good.

I remember watching Steve Sedgley on tv recently before a north london derby, he was hosting a segment of a show (possibly soccer am) in which they went behind the scenes at White Hart Lane and showed us things like the dressing rooms and what not.

When he looked at the current tactic board he said "we didn't have much use for one of these back in my day, Mr Venables' only tactic was GIVE THE BALL TO GAZZA" I think that pretty much summed up our team from 1989-91

Man City 1986. 1-0 Graham Roberts. I remember being quite taken with our kit but bored by the game (I may have been too young). The kit left enough of an impression for me to go back though

I was four or five years old so it would have been 1951 or 1952. It was a friendly match that ended 0-0 and my dad took me and sat me on a crossbar on the terrace.

I remember the noise and the excitement and people making a fuss of me and I don't think I'd ever seen so many people all in one place. The only names I remember from that game are Len Duquemin and Ted Ditchburn and to this day I have an incredible amount of respect and admiration for great goalkeepers.

No doubt there were other stalwarts on the pitch that day who I don't remember and that probably would have included Billy Nick, Tommy Harmer and Eddie Baily.

I know that I wanted to see a goal being scored and didn't see one that day but deep down I knew I'd be back at White Hart Lane and see many goals.

I did go to more games with my dad but the landmark day came when I was ten years old and was allowed to go to a game by myself, going in the Boys' Entrance for something like sixpence, decked out with a brand new blue and white scarf and rosette and enough extra money to buy a programme (it was a penny or twopence I think). It was on Boxing Day 1957 and we played Wolves and Bobby Smith scored the only goal. Billy Wright captained Wolves.

While in the queue waiting to go through the turnstile, some of the young Wolves supporters tried to make fun of me, as a girl going in the Boys' Entrance. I shut them up by saying that their colours made me think of liquorice and diarrhoea.

I felt very proud being trusted to go to the match and to go straight home afterwards (just a few minutes away from the ground).
