I remember watching Steve Sedgley on tv recently before a north london derby, he was hosting a segment of a show (possibly soccer am) in which they went behind the scenes at White Hart Lane and showed us things like the dressing rooms and what not.

When he looked at the current tactic board he said "we didn't have much use for one of these back in my day, Mr Venables' only tactic was GIVE THE BALL TO GAZZA" I think that pretty much summed up our team from 1989-91

Wouldn't have expected anything else. And it seemed to work!

Forget the year but home to Wimbledon in their first season in the top flight. Went with my father and was not prepared for what came to pass. Very full-on game which we lost 3-2. I think Roberts was stretchered and sent off which summed up the match!

I kind of assumed we'd beat these newbies so I was left in shock.

Still, here I am - my passion for THFC ever stronger from that day onwards.

My first game at the Lane was actually the first game I had ever seen, I hadn't even watched us on tv before (tooo young I guess) although I did have spurs kits I wore and I was a spurs fan without really knowing what one was.

First game at the Lane was a 2-1 win over Everton, the Klinsmann overhead kick game. He was my first Spurs hero, but I took it too far and did 'the' celebration in the school playground leading to many a bloody knee!

That was one of my favourite ever games I have been too, Klinsmann's home debut I was in the paxton end behind the goal when he scored and everyone went nuts.

The biggest star at the Lane since Gazza was born that night. I also remember getting the bus to Shepherd's Bush for his last game against QPR too (and skipping school to go to his book signing in Oxford street with my friend and his dad, we queued for 2 hours just to get our shirts signed....which not 3 years ago my girlfriend put in the wash :bang:)

1994 - Sheffield Wednesday 3-4 Tottenham Hotspur at Hillsborough.

A classic Ardiles match, with Klinsmann (debut), Sheringham, Anderton, Barmby and Dumitrescu in attack.

In 1994, Tottenham were well and truly in the mire with the FA over financial irregularities. Although they had a 12-point deduction and FA Cup ban overturned, many feared that the off field troubles would give way to a season of woe. Tottenham, with new signing Jurgen Klinsmann, would have a safe and quiet season with a run to the FA Cup semi final, but their opening day win against Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough is a standout moment.

Teddy Sheringham opened the scoring on 19 minutes, with Darren Anderton adding a second on the half hour. Sheffield Wednesday levelled the scores with Romanian wingback Dan Petrescu and an unfortunate own goal by Colin Calderwood. However, youngster Nick Barmby replied five minutes after the equaliser with a finish which belied his years and relative inexperience.

Then came the coup de grace from Klinsmann (who would later suffer a facial injury) with a graceful, well placed header. An immediate response from David Hirst made it 4-3, but a jittery Tottenham held out to savour victory in a fantastic curtain raiser.

Sheffield United at home in 1976. I puked in the back of my brothers car( car sickness ), old second division. Apparently i had been taken as a 3 year old or something but I have no recollection. Oh we won 4-2 against the Blades. Best home game that season was beating Bolton at home 1-0 in top of the table clash in front of 50,000. We averaged 33,000 that year which only Man utd about 43,000, liverpool 40,000 and arsenal 35,000)
averaged more. I could be wrong and I could check but these things have stayed with me. I don't know why attendances mean that much to me but they always have done. I hate the fact that we have a small capacity now( even though we generate one of the best atmospheres around). Size matters!

This was your first ever game? Wow pretty good way to be introduced to life as a Spurs fan

Tottenham 7 Southampton 2 - who'd have thought a George Graham led side could be so entertaining and a hat trick for the goal machine Steffen Iversen no less!

Had to wait a long time for my chance to watch Tottenham (15 years) and was worth the wait - remember all the talk was us about to sign John Hartson and fell through over a medical (thank god!) but loved the experience.

Shame the season didn't live up to expectations. The next 10 years followed....

1996 - Spurs v Forest in the 5th round replay of the FA Cup. Goals from Bryan Roy and Teddy Sheringham took the game to a shoot out, where we lost 3-1. Mark Crossley's goalkeeping heroics ruined my day :(

My first game was 23rd August 1978. My dad got 2 tickets for £1.60 each and we sat in the old West Stand ( I still have the stub somewhere).
It was an exciting day for me and for all Spurs fans. It was out first game at home back in the 1st division after a season in the 2nd. We had drawn 1-1 away to Brian Cloughs soon to be European Champions and were all looking forward to the game.
Ozzie and Villa had just signed and the world was talking about Tottenham Hotspur.
I was so excited. My dad drove to right outside the ground and we walked up. I can remember the smell of burgers and hot dogs and my dad bought me a programme.
We walked up the steps and I remember the roar as I went to our seats.
I don't remember much about the game, we lost 1-4 with Hoddle scoring a penalty. But that was me hooked..
My dad tells me I cried all the way home....nothing changes then

(just found out the attendance was 48,000??????)

My first spurs game was an away match to Man Utd in 97-98. We lost 2-0, Gross was manager, Klinsmann was in his second spell.

Went to the match with my brother who is a utd fan. He was given it loads about how they were gonna win easy and to be fair at the time he wasn't wrong.

We got the tickets off my cousin, Michael Armstrong AKA Michael Gomez, who is a huge citeh fan. He dropped us off at old trafford in his car, he was wearin a citeh tracksuit and got out of the car and started hurlin abuse at the utd fans and just left us there.
