I'm still waiting for us to sign Viktor Leonenko...

 Now that is name from the past! What a signing he was from Kiev. Around 2.7m.

Larsson was a bargain along with Teddy Lucic and Nicholas Alexanderson, you could get the three of them for just over a million.

Also Marcus Purk - Scored 38 goals in 40 games for Sunderland one season for me upfront with the superb Peter Ofioquaye (sp)

Bayakoko always flattered to deceive even on champ man.

Tommy Svindal Larrsen!!!!!

Holy shite, that takes me back to being 15 years of age and chasing completely unobtainable blonde girls at secondary school!!

And I thought TSL was a secret only within my group of teenage Champ-man fanatics.

They've missed out the ultimate Champ-man 97-98 buy though; Marc Emmers.

Snapped up for a 'Free' at the start of the game, the tough-tackling DM had mediocre stats, but would somehow player an '8' or better every match. Partnered with TSL, any team in the top-flight would instantly have a midfield pairing with bite and goals in abundance!!

Such a legend was Emmers in my group of friends, that I've actually got a Belgium shirt with EMMERS, No. 8 blazened across the back.

Classic!!

Good article in shortlist about FM09 yesterday, says they have 900 scouts for players (not sayig they're any good) but second was Sevilla with 700 (and I don't think we got them with Ramos). Pity as I downloaded too much animal porn and had to dump my PC in the river (am working by the way hic) so won't be able to play it.

Can remember my friend putting Owen on for Liverpool when he was 15. God I'm getting old.

Saviola used to score about 60 a season for me, I was disappointed to finally see him in real life and find that he looked like a newborn monkey.

Morten Gamst Pedersen let me down too, but only because he's quite crap in real life.

A while ago i thought a good idea for a TV show would be to locate the legends of Championship Manager and see what happened in their careers.

The 2008 version the top players for me were

Henri Saivet (signed on a free with nominal compensation paid to Bordeaux)
Breno (Brazilian defender signed from B.Munich after the Jan 08 updated patch)
Lulinha (lok up the Brazilian U20 team)
Choco (same as above)
Eduard (same as above)
Alexis Sanchez (from Udinese)

Saivet was the bees knees for me. That boy could not stop scoring. Had to blood him for 1 season in the U18's then 1 in the reserves. After that he was a different gravy

Michael Bridges for AC Milan. Who would have thought it? 1.5 goals a game. £25m slapped right on his forehead.

well actually football manager has a very good scouting system. it's the largest in the world employign around 900 people, more than any football club. also, in a recent interview, the creator of fm said that a top premiership club was about to announce a tie with them to secure the use of their scouting netowrk

The creaters, the Collyer brothers have actually signed a deal with Everton, both are Toffees, for Everton to use their network of scouts

I bought Sergio Aguero in my first season managing Spurs on the 2008 version. He scored 85 goals for me and carried on season after season. I also bought Saivet who was magnificent after 3 or 4 years.

Does anyone remember Freddy Adu being the dogs bollox about 4 or 5 games ago?
