Frontline for Everton (and beyond)?

So with no first-team transfers happening this summer, what are we going to do up top for Everton next weekend (and probably beyond)?

With 4 duff forwards who are well beyond redemption, do with either chuck Coulibaly or Kane in, bring Krancjar in into a novel two #10s setup, or try and see if Bale can become our Thierry Henry?

1)

Lennon----vdv----Bale
------Coulibaly/Kane

2)

Lennon-----------Bale
----vdV---Krancjar

3)

Lennon----vdv----Krancjar
----------Bale

Thoughts?

Why the fuck are you still trying to push the Bale idea?

It'll be VDV behind Crouch, Pav or Defoe. Face it.

It's fun to dream.

I think Crouchy is pretty nailed on to start against Everton (unless he really is leaving and then it will be Defoe or Pav).

I'm hoping that we get to see alot of Kane and Coulibaly in Europe but no way will they be anywhere near the starting eleven on the first game of the season.

I do like the idea of bale playing as a striker, its not really a stupid thing to suggest because hes clearly (when on form) our most gifted player, physically and technically. Why would you not try that through the middle, when you have Strikers misfiring like ours?

Has the window closed a month earlier this year?

Nope, but the season starts the same time as normal and we'll be 6-9 points behind our rivals after drawing blank during our 3 August games.

Because of Henry. And because Bale is quick, tall and a good finisher - a combination none of our so-called forwards have.

Defrouchenko has to be dead to us after last year's failure.

Obviously hes a nutter to claim that we should start Kane or Coulibally

My preference is actually the Krancjar two #10s option, though maybe that's a bit like when Hoddle tried pairing Sheringham and Rebrov.

Which doesn't work...which is why he's trying something else

Chill out and use your imagination...forums are for ideas so stop pissing on this one.

Bale can score plenty of goals from the wings. So why create a new problem for us in LM by moving him in to CF, without even knowing if he will prosper there?

Lol. This thread makes me laugh. We'll score goals in at least 2 out of our first 3 games, no matter who is up front. And you can quote me on that.

We're still a good side. Strikers aren't great but the rest of ths team being very very good helps a hell of a lot. Especially the attacking midfield 4 of Modric, Bale, Lennon and VDV.

Things can only get better?

Is it possible for some of our current strikers to have an about turn in form this season?

I can see Defoe or Pav doing better, especially in light of all of the departure talk focussed on Keane and Crouch.

All of them are getting on a bit now so are in decline, not the stage of their careers where they'll improvement.

Keane and Defoe are in terminal decline now that their pace has gone.

Pav has always been meh.

And Crouch hasn't been effective in the EPL for many years.

Pav should start but the issue is getting more players up in support of him and looking to get into the penalty area.

I'd love to think that one of our youngsters could make the step up, because that doesn't happen too frequently nowadays, but from the options you suggest I think Bale up top has the most promise. Not enough pace with the two number tens.

It mightn't necessarily be a case of shooting blanks in our first three games but I certainly expect us to be well off the pace by the end of August if we don't see some new personnel pretty sharpish. I am borderline despondent at this end.

I totally agree! Although I do like Pav and think he is the best we have I also accept that he is not good enough. The other 3 are so shockingly poor it is actually frightening. Because they are so poor I would be all for playing one of our youngsters or Kaboul or somebody up there, what is the worst that could happen? Crouch, Keane and Defoe are just awful and I would be very depressed indeed if I had to endure another season of watching them attempt to play football. I would even go as far as to say that I would prefer Keane to Crouch, at least he can sort of hold the ball up and run.

If we don't get a new striker we are bang in trouble.
