I used to watch nothing but sky sports...but has gone downhill in recent years quite dramatically. Was upbeat when setanta sports news cam on the scene....some decent competition...but that didnt last :(

I also have to think, would sky sports news be so keen on this story if they didnt have la primera coverage? obviously feel that needs a bit more of an audience and this is perfect advertising for free

Nail on the head! The ammount of money they spend on TV rights, they need to make it worth while, at the expense of whichever club gets in their way.

I'm still trying to understand why Bale would choose this season to leave. Real have Ronaldo, Oezil, Isco, and more. No way will he be starting if he fails in his first couple of months. Ancelotti has a reputation too, and we all know the manager's job at RM is never safe.

Which also suggests that a lack of stability is the norm at RM; with regards to both players and managers. At least with us, Bale is Guaranteed to be a starter, and also likely to see at least two year tenures in terms of manager and most players.

As Bale is still developing, I would recommend he stay one year. RM rarely bring on academy players, or any player (exclude Ronaldo, who was going to improve, regardless), because of the volatile nature of their set-up.

Getting a lot of flak for the di Maria/Townsend comment. I'm not saying he is a bad player, far from it. More, I'm not sure he would be massively effective in our side and I'd rather have his value in euros than take a chunk out of any Bale fee. It's not likely that AvB would set up with an out and out winger like him and, if he wanted to, Townsend is capable.
Comprende?

I am quietly optimistic about Townsend. He's unlikely to go on to be a really top player, but I think he will become a very 'effective' player. Kind of like Valencia is for United. If we play 433 he'll be very dangerous coming off that right flank.

This has really been escalated today in the media.

I suppose Real Marcarid want to put the pressure on before we face Monaco, to see if Bale plays in that and the Fan's reaction to him.

Wouldn't be surprised if they even ship in some fans to boo Bale...

I agree although only once he learns to pass

Sergio Ramos' turn to speak out today, wonder who's turn it is tomorrow?

What happened to "we don't want to upset our 'friends' at Tottenham by talking about their players" ?

DL should get all the players to shit on that "partnership" we have with them and airmail it right to Perez' fat face.

What's beggining to grate about this saga is that Real have clearly been tapping Bale up since May. If he wanted to leave he should have informed us weeks ago instead of 2 weeks before the season started. I know he has the right to change his mind but its completely disrupted our preparations for the season.

I know, it's a fucking joke it really is, and that c*** Zidane again as well, they really can't just shut the fuck up and it's so irritating. Have never seen a club act so disrespectfully in pursuit of a player, no regards for us whatsoever and like you mentioned the fact that we have a "partnership" makes it all the more laughable.

Watching these goals from last season again that i used to rewind time and time again (like the West Ham and West Brom goals, fantastic strikes) are now painful to watch. And I thought watching footage of VDV was hard after he left...

Also consider Bale is to be the face of BT's football coverage. Sky wouldnt like that. Them helping force Bale away is also them telling the new kids on the block to get back in their box as the Premier league is their turf

I'm actually still optimistic that we will be able to keep Bale for one more year, but I must admit that that optimism has been badly hit over the last few days.

Walking into a bank and asking the woman behind the counter what she thinks about Bale being sold does not qualify you as having financial contacts.

Nor does cashing a check at cash converters and asking the same question.

You are meant to hold the gun with the barrel facing at me when you pull the trigger, not with the barrel pointing at you, :woot:

I don't think it's possible for us to make a signing that would not leave me absolutely devestated when we sell bale :(

This is going to ruin my summer

Keep the faith. Bottom line is 'do we have to sell'. No we do not RM are just being a bunch of fucks. We have money without Bales potential transfer. We are improving. Have made some shrewd purchases. Potentially Soldado to come. Has Bale requested a transfer? From what we hear - no. And he wont. He is happy to play for Spurs but would like to move to RM. Still strongly believe we can come up with a compromise especially with the assurances at the end of the season. Selling him now will fuck up our plans because a player like him we need more time to replace adequately. And with the uncertainty and changes to the current top teams this is our chance to step up. We wont have an opportunity like this for many a year. If we qualify for CL or more, the cash from that and the new TV deal will be enough to improve the squad next summer, and any potential Bale money can go straight to the stadium. Bale can have another year developing his game and we can wish him well for the future after that. This is what I am holding on to, the hope still remains with me.

Edit: Also want to add ITK has swung both ways so instead of everyone playing on each others nightmares, slitting wrists and going absolutely crazy why dont we all hold hands, sing a nice soothing song round a campfire and believe everything will be ok.
