He looks absolutely unplayable for about 8 games a season, like the Euro final. The rest of the time he has the vision of Stevie Wonder and his first touch is reminiscent of Peter Kay in a John Smiths adver
It looks impressive when Sissoko surges up the pitch but he hardly ever does anything productive at the end of it. At least Wijnaldum scores regularly.

Some interesting stats on Wijnaldum...

Last season he had a scoring rate of 29% on games played for Newcastle. With PSV his scoring rate was 38%.
Compare that to De Bruyne (28%) and Alli (30%).

Last season was played (for the most part) under a deplorable coach. And in a losing cause.

Imagine the season that Alli might have had under Steve McClaren. Or Sherwood!!!

Imagine also what results this player might achieve with a talented coach and surrounded by equally talented players.

I've liked what I've seen of him in games and the video here isolates some of Wilnaldum's skills nicely.

He's a multi-talented player that can fill numerous roles for Tottenham Hotspur. Not least of all - he scores.

Here's hoping...

I'm not particularly a fan but he does offer a lot of flexibility. He can score goals but more importantly he can play both centrally and on the left in the attacking midfield role and also cover for CM. I think if we were to say, get a good offer for Chadli and/or Son (though I think he deserves another season) he would present a decent move.

The price seems a bit over the top but for under 20 million I think he could present a decent piece of business.

I think a deal of 18M should seal his move come deadline.;)

He's a bit inconsistent, but the guy has talent and as others have said he has a burst of pace about him and an eye for goal.

It's based on nothing more than a gut feeling, but I reckon he'd excel at a club like ours.

Bottom line is why should we pay more than they did last year and why should they accept less than they paid last year.

11 goals and 5 assists in a team that got relegated is very decent indeed, yes he can be very inconsistent but in a better team I think he would thrive.

He would be an excellent squad player but not for stupid money. 15-18m and that would be a good move

Be careful with this sort of analysis. For example Dempsey and Siggy were free scoring for their respective clubs before joining.

The important business is done with Wanyama and (hopefully) Janssen on board. I think we still need a player with a bit of magic or some very high potential to make it a very satisfying window, and I don't see Wijnaldum as that player. True class would be Gotze, but I'd see potential in players like Tielemans, Bazoer, Coric etc although they are not really similar to GW. Newcastle are asking stupid money for him as well.

I'd take him, IF the price is right. He has an X factor, in my opinion, that IF handled and coached correctly, could turn him into a super player for us. As others have said, he has struggled in a poorly managed, under performing team PLUS it was his 1st season in the EPL. With that experience gained and partnered with the players we have..etc etc

We could do a lot worse.

If this deal goes through it's a late one IMO, we will pursue the likes of Gotze first and wait for Newcastle to hopefully budge on pricing. Definitely got a Berahino feel to it, hopefully with a better resolution if it goes until deadline day.

Both lacked the mobility to be truly effective in the various positions in the AVB system to be fair, this is not a problem for Wijnaldum. The only concerns are the mentality for me, and whether he has enough vision and creativity to really make a difference for us.

Like I said before if this was a year ago and we were trying to get him from PSV this would be a very popular move IMHO.

i was reading an article where the author thought 18 million was a fair price. If wouldn't pay 25 for berahino why would we cough up 25 for him.

Of course much depends on how the coach uses the player. Siggy is still prolific at Swansea - and was a star for Iceland at the Euros. (Don't want to talk about Demosey).

As scoring is a big part of Wijnaldum's game I imagine that the coach would want to make the most of that part of his game.
