Welcome to David Pleat World. Where every players name is a potential mine field!

So we've all seen it, and we've all probably done it, but why is it so many of us get our own players names wrong. It's not like they don't have them written on the back of their shirts.

So, are you one of the people who gets annoyed with people who write Ericsson? Or Eric Lamela? Or Ben Davis?,
Or are you one of the offenders who constantly gets people's names wrong?

Why do you get annoyed? or Why don't you bother to spell our own players name correctly?
Does it matter? Does anyone really care?

Either way everyone's welcome in David Pleat World!

:)

It just seems incredibly lazy. I can understand that some would struggle with names like Alderweireld, but how hard can it be to get Dele Alli right?

I've met people at work who start talking about Keanes goal and I'm thinking wtf you on about. Takes me about 10sec to realise they mean Kane.
Fkin muppets lol.

That's in the same category as former F1 world champion "Damien Hill"

Spelling mistakes are one thing...but calling someone a completely different name when their name is constantly spoken through football matches, or races is just plain thick.

It should be noted that not every name has one way of being spelled.

Gylfi's surname can be rendered both as 'Sigurdsson' and 'Sigurðsson', with neither necessarily incorrect.

Similarly, Sol's surname can be rendered as 'Campbell', 'C***bell', 'C***ball' and 'C*******' and I wouldn't pick anyone up on their spelling in any of these cases...

Never heard a UK commentator ever call Davies by his name . Its always Davis . Foreign commentators are generally correct though.
