Im sorry but bent is Poor what some of u see in him i don't know, he cant even lead the line when playing up front on his own. Hes just a headless chicken who isolates him self up front at least when Pav plays it look like we have a striker on the field. Bent didn't even have a shot on target or off target in 90 mins yesterday

If Bent started every match until the end of the season we would be playing championship football next year and If he used half of the engry he uses running around for getting him self to to space he could come good but every game he just looks like same, they way Pav started against arsenal is the way i expect a lone striker to play dropping deep, winning free kicks, flicking on headers but bent does not do any of that just stands up front waiting for that long ball that he can try to run on too. Dont want it to seem like i hate bent but watch us play with him upfront on his own is shocking it never seem like anything is gonna happen. seriously needs to up his game

Jesus christ. Shame some of our supporters can't support a player who is giving his all and doing the job he's told to do.

He does about as much as Pavlyuchenko up there is he shit too? is every player shit who's not Berbatov?

As long as the midfield are doing their job I'm quite happy for Bent to be our goalscorer.

except 6 goals for the season and a good assist yesterday?

he also beat 2 men to get a great cross in yesterday, something GDS has failed to do.

You metion Pav dropped back when he was on and got involved in play. That may be true, but we never looked like scoring did we? Bent scored after less thwn 2 minutes on the pitch and we scored a further two. Bent stretches defences, did you not see two arsenal men doubling up on him which allowed Jenas a clear route for his goal?

I didn't say im not supporting him but sometimes giving your all ain't enough, its all good running around but if its not effective whats the point, maybe im just expecting too much he was our fourth choice striker last year for a reason

That could work both ways jenas only had the shot because bent wasn't in a decent position to receive a pass, even the commentary said he look up but saw no option so he had the shot

We were pehaps spoiled with Berbatov. Widely regarded as one of the best players in the league hence the £30m+ price tag and the fact that he starts every game ahead of Tevez for the best team in the world.

This, I feel, is clouding our ability to just appreciate what some of our current players are doing to help the team and support them.

Completley agree. He's a tad backwards when defending set pieces :)

I think he's done really well for us considering the circumstances. He's now got to the stage where there isn't a collective groan from the crowd if he doesn't hit the target. He's definitely putting in 100% and good luck to him.

For me, i'd prefer Bent as a number 3 striker. Too good for no4 but not good enough for 1st choice. His style of play suits the way we played our second half today, which was basically lumping it over the midfield. I'd rather not see us play like that except when we need to, like today. Which is why i think we'd do well to keep him as a no2 or 3 behind a top class striker. Difficult to choose between Bent & Defoe. Bent's obviously better in the air but i'd personally prefer Defoe, mainly because he takes more of his chances and i like the fact he's dynamic - the opposition fear him. But Benty had a blinder 2nd half, really put himself about and if he carries on like that, he'll be a crowd favourite soon enough.

im sure opposing defenders fear defoe, however im also sure that they fear bent too..he must be a nightmare to mark . Quick and strong, always alive and sharp and he moves so well off the ball.
simply very different players .

He scored 6 in 14 games and more than a whole host of big name strikers. Defoe has never been very prolific and I think Bent actually takes much more of his chances. He has had bad service and he has still managed to score 6 goals.

Darren Bent has impressedme so much this season I think we should FORGET about Defoe, and give Bent the chance because I think he will get alot of goals now the midfield has started playing football

I'm happy with Bent, and I feel he offers a bit more than Pav because he's alot faster. He's been sharp this season with his chances, especially the goal against Chelski. Always liked him, and he stayed positive when he wasn't getting a look in.

Still not getting his name on the back of me shirt tho, that's just providing the goons with 2 much easy material.

Bent wasnt in the game alot yesterday... due to liverpools dominance of the ball for a lot of it. When he got a sniff he looked purposeful and sharp.
Always thought he had goals in him, now the price tag has sort of been forgotten and he is getting games the goals are there even from the bench he has the desire to get a goal for the team.
A confident Bent is a worthy edition to the team, maybe not the subtleties (spelling lol) of some of our former strikers but lets have the midfield create for them.

Bent is dwarf compared to Berba and Keano he deserves only to polish their shoes

what?

give it a rest, berba and keano are GONE.

Bent and Pavlyuchenko are now our deadly duo. the longer they play together the better they, and we will be.

and to those saying bent didnt do enough yesterday. it was enough to make the league leaders lose for the first time this season. he set the winner up in the last minute. what more do you want?

liverpool have one of the tightest defences in europe. it wont be like that every week.

Bent's not going to strop about flapping his hands & complaining about a few missed passes. He may not be as good but he puts the ball in the net. It's about time we had a midfield that was inventive & left the strikers to do the basics.

Bent & Pav have scored 9 between them (in all comps) so far this season. Not bad for a team playing like shit, a striker who's new to the league & another who's supposedly a donkey. If our form keeps up then they'll each score a bundle.
