What's new

Giving Adebayor the captaincy wasn't a 'move' or a 'statement' – but playing him was

Am I the only one who's bored of this already? I had it last night at the game from neighbouring fans, on the way home on Talksport, this morning on the way to work on Radio 5, at work from co-workers and through out the day when looking at Spurs associated sites / forums and even on the back of papers.

I couldn't even flick to Page 3 to take my mind off it.....b@stards....

At the start of the season, I can't imagine many of us thought that Kaboul and / or Adebayor deserved to be Captain of any sort, but credit to Poch' for sticking by his decision last night and as he said, he made him vice captain several months ago, so the article is right, why fiddle the team to have Kaboul or Lloris in.

Anyway, Captaincy aside, interesting to see what role Adebayor plays in his next appearance, last night just didn't work with him and Kane. While he's here he will have my support so hopefully things will come good and he can prove to the boo boys that he can be relied on or atleast do the job that is required of him.

In Poch' we must trust!

Nice post totally agree, if he has to play then I'd rather he did it well. Disappointed to see him as captain but thats only if you believe he caused problems earlier in the season which lead to him being dropped If he didn't then I've no qualms.

True though it is getting boring listening to it all...

The article pretty-well sums up the way I see it as well: the fact that Ade was appointed Captain was not nearly as big a deal as the fact that he was starting.....so soon after re-joining the team, and was still not fit.
Either Spurs' are attempting to 'shop window' him for a trade, or Levy has indicated to Mauricio that he is in all probability going to have to use Ade as a striker for the rest of the season. (no new striker coming in).
Mauricio, faced with this, is playing Ade as much as he can in the hope that he finds his scoring touch again, or, if he is going to be carrying his share of games up front until May, can regain fitness quicker and play the team's pressing- type game a.s.a.p.
Pochetto knows It's imperative that Ade gets going - both fitness and scoring-wise - to take some of the pressure off Harry Kane.
To cut a long story short; our Manager is facing a similar make-do situation, right after a transfer window, that his predecessors did.
