Does anyone have any inkling what it might be, and how long Gomes might be out for?

Cudicini did well enough when he came on, but I wouldn't be confident in Alnwick/Jansson etc to cover for Cudicini if, heaven forbid, something happened to him.

If Gomes' injury does prove to be a medium- to long-term one, maybe we'll end up going for David James after all: what with his age and Pompey being up the creek financially, he'd probably be the ideal cheap replacement to bring in - although that would create a headache for whenever Gomes returned.

Hopefully Gomes will be back quickly, as I feel much safer with him in goal rather than Carlo.

Its a groin injury.

That's normally a few weeks isn't it? Either way, I really hope we don't panic buy James.

Seems an odd thing to get from a heavy landing. Wonder if something went when he jumped? That might account for the lame punch.

He's got about three weeks before Man United game to get fit. I feel confident enough for Cudicini to go in goal for West Ham, Doncaster and Birmingham. Hopefully it shouldn't be too long.

Even if he breaks a nail he still pulls a face as if his arm has been blown off

Oscar Jansson is the best keeper we've had at Spurs since Pat Jennings, so I'm not worried.

Well, someone had to say it.

I'm glad he didn't play on injured like he usually does. He played a LOT of games injured last season and it didn't help his calamity side.

Get well soon!

alnwick is crap and jansson is already better than him... isnt there someone old and almost finished but ok we can sign as cover.

anti niemi would have been ideal...

That'll be David James then.

Not that I want him but he fits your criteria

If his out for around 8 weeks then we really have a problem. Not many have good first choice keeper except the champions of england, europe and the world. James is the obvious player but when they are all back from injury what do we do. It will be really hard on Carlo if we sign a keeper and his on the bench again - We need an experienced keeeper who will be happy to sit on the bench

Well we don't know how serious Gomes' injury actually is yet. And I have faith in Cudicini to do the biz and stay uninjured until HG is fit to return.

United are having to do without Van Der Sar, and they're doing ok. Oh, wait..... (BTW, loved Carrick's penalty miss. I just wish it had been the sulky Bulgarian).

The biggest issue may be if CC comes in and shines. Does Gomes automatically get back his place???

Sky Sports News were giving the impression he could be out for a while. Really not sure whose available at the moment?
