Now that Harry is gone, do you think the new manager would decide to keep him and put him as first choice? After all, Harry doesn't use him because he has a policy of 'piss me off and you never play again'.
I think you might find Harry's policy was closer to every other managers policy. Throw enough into your own net and you'll never play again. If he could cut out the silly errors he'd be one of the best in the world. Now that Harry is gone, do you think the new manager would decide to keep him and put him as first choice? That is a big if, to be fair he did have one great season, but the last season was dire. Forty years old Friedel was an improvement and that is sad.I think you might find Harry's policy was closer to every other managers policy. Throw enough into your own net and you'll never play again. It's easy not to make a mistake when you don't take a chance.
He never "threw it into his own net" and the number of goals that were down to him were low. Compare that to the number of times he saved us. Friedel has been okay and he's made a few good stops but he seems to take a very low risk attitude so that when he concedes it doesn't look like he's done anything wrong because he didn't do anything at all. It's easy not to make a mistake when you don't take a chance. So many times we needed a keeper that was willing to come out for crosses, how many of the goals we conceded came from crosses last season?

I'd say the goalkeeping position in a football team is the place where you want to take the least number of risks.
He's been an upgrade on Gomes - even simply down to the amount of confidence he gives the defence and, more influentially, the crowd. The number of fans (notably, idiots) that would jeer Gomeas catching a ball would be ridiculous.
Friedel didn't get that once. Mainly because he didn't throw the ball into his net, but that's by the by. Gomes had great games, but he also had a particularly bad season for 2010/2011 - that never lived up to the season before. And arguably cost us more than he saved us - which isn't the ratio for Bradders.
He was rightly replaced by someone who was steadier, gave the defence a confidence boost and didn't take as many risks.
We simply don't have the 2010 Gomes. We have the 2012 Gomes. We should get over it and move on.
We conceded more than three goals in a game how many times last season? I am not saying frediel had a poor season. I am saying to claim he is so much better than Gomes is an outright exaggeration.
