Interesting stats

In the Prem -

Jenas - - -23 - - -7- - - - 9 - - - 7
Zokora - -20 - - -5- - - - 6 - - - 9
Hudd - - -16 - - -7- - - - 4 - - - 5

Also, not as a comparison but showing that we do better when he plays

Interesting Lennon, maybe JJ isn't our best mid (as I've thought and said many times)

Obviously any stats need careful deconstructing but on that evidence Hudd is our best mid - I'll bear it in mind in any future claims I make - but I expect more stats on this soon :)

EDIT - In all games (excluding pre-season) it's much closer tho

Hudd 11 7 7 - JJ 17 9 12

I think probably there could be problems relating to games started and games as subs in these stats

I think Actim-wise JJ still leads Hudd - i'll check it out when I get time :)

EDIT again - yep JJ still leads

so I'll keep my JJ is the best mid for now thanks :)

Lennon's scored the same number of goals as Bale. He's gotta be gutted about that.

I was kind of pointing out how bad Zokora faired compared with the other two - especially Hudd who is below him in the pecking order.

Hi Lennon - no problem :) but you know what stats and people are like when they get together

But point taken about Zokora

I honestly can't make up my mind which I think is our best mid - but I know it involves JJ :)

I agree that JJ is our best midfielder by some margin. I think Huddlestone and JJ are the best partnership, but Ramos seems to favour Zokora - probably because he feels Hudd JJ is to attacking.
Interestingly enough - and I rate TT - but in the 6 games TT has started we have drawn three and lost three. Though I'm not sure how many of those, if any, he has started in CM.

:) Lennon - well stats are a minefield as we all know - of course TT's finest hour (and a half), this season anyway, was in the Carling 5-1

Danny Murphy --------Played - Won - Drawn - Lost

though on a serious note those are pre-season games - JJ's and Zoko's records are even better - P 4 W 4

Our midfield scoring record is shocking, although it has been like for quite a few years. Maybe we should play an 8-0-2 formation?!

Including stats from pre-seasons is a joke. The only reliable stats are OPTA's, because their criteria are completely consistent, even if you don't necessarily agree with them.

I'm not sure of the value of saying. 'Oh look, we do so much better when Player X is/isn't playing', either. It's something joey55 used to do a lot, and whilst I mostly agreed with many of the points he made, I wasn't entirely convinced by that one. It places too much emphasis on one area.

Agree SS57, especially about pre season, what's all that about?

I like stats, but only up to a point, I wouldn't use them as gospel, as for starters they don't factor in the strength of the opposition when comparing players ratios etc.

I always looked forward to joey55's insightful team, player and statistic analysis. I have the strange sense that he died or something, based on the way he suddenly left and never posted again after being among the regulars here. If my memory serves me well, in one of his last posts he said he had picked up an nasty infection and expressed his worry about it.

Yeah, joey passed on, unfortunately. He met with a freak wakeboarding accident. We're going to name a forum after him. Probably a quiet one that no one really goes in. Next to the 'minimike room', 'ParkLaneSnoop Wing' and 'the arena of tano'.
