I dont actively want him sacked right now. He's figured it out. But in no way, shape, or form was last nights win entertaining. I was literally squeezing by bum for 85 minutes until Son's dagger against the run of play.
Thought you lot called them ''fannies"?

Just need to get him a few quality additions to back him and match his ambitions imo.

Types of players for example:

Jonathan Tah (cb)

Brandt (am/winger)

Batshuyai/Sturridge/Rashford (sc).

Just to add quality, greater strength in depth, push our first 11 on and still young, so values will increase.

These are the type of players to help us push on and whilst hard to get, they are achievable unlike the likes of Isco, etc.

This would also allow us to loan out the likes of CCV who would benefit from greater playing time.
Haha, on the strikers, what makes you think Chelsea, United or Liverpool would fancy strengthening us?
More chance of getting Isco, in fact we've got more chance of signing Ronaldo lol.

So it isn't Spurs that's the problem its you. Plenty of people were nervous last night and for lots of games but they don't translate that into us being turgid or boring. Things just got a lot clearer. For you to 'enjoy' a game we need to be three goals up after fifteen minutes and score another every ten minutes or so. You can't take the uncertainty of sport :(

Yeah, we should be 3 or 4 goals up by half time against a team who had only lost two league games at home in 2016. And apart from the four (FOUR) goals we barely created any other chances. I can only think of:

* Eriksen hitting the bar.
* Alli clean through for the penalty.
* Wanyama's jinking run which led to a great block preventing a certain goal.
* Rose shooting wide from six yards from a tight angle.
* Wanyama's effort from the edge of the box turned over by Forster.

We're just not creating any chances!

Turned it around results wise but lets be honest with each other, the football is still laregely turgid AVB stuff. This negative football infuriates me. We have a good squad. Lets use it to the best of its abilities please.

Also, there is zero chance this thread would have been made if we let one in yeaterday after they went down to 10 men like it looked.

I read multiple posts, many from yourself, bemoaning our negative "turgid AVB style" Football, yet we are currently sitting on a goal difference of +20.
The reaction here reminds me of the reaction Chelsea got when Mourinho took over the first time. The reality was that Chelsea averaged 2 goals a game that season and let very few in.

As I see it, THAT is the issue here, we are controlling games, preventing the cut and thrust of end to end Football, making the game appear to be "boring" and the blame being put on us.
The irony is that when we do get involved in an end to end scrap, the same people are complaining about us not controlling the game enough.

We are second in the Prem for shots at goal. I've seen the responses about pot shots and not enough "creative" chances being made, which I think is tosh personally. We have been creative going forward, but our finishing has been poor at times. Fine margins, but margins that are missed, or ignored, because they put the lie to the argument that our Football is "boring" or "turgid."

We're not flowing as well as Liverpool or Chelsea going forward, but no one else is and they've been involved in their own wars of attrition anyway. No one escapes that in this league.

I can't help but feel that you and others are expecting 90 minutes of sheer excitement every game and, when it isn't delivered, declare it boring.

No team, even Utd in their heyday, delivers that consistently. What they did deliver was consistent wins with the odd outstanding performance thrown in.

Sound familiar?

What's not to love? Under previous managers our season would probably already be over as we always lacked that steel. Poch may not have made us attractive but he has made us hard to beat which is good for me.

It's not just the results, the improvements to players like Walker and Rose, the emphasis on mentality, the ethos that when you sign for Spurs you're only signing for the right to train, the defensive qualities of the squad, the team spirit, the aggression and fight (I know we dropped two points at Stamford Bridge last season, but I loved the fact we went in hard on those tossers when in the past we would have frozen), the work rate, the passion, the notion that players aren't bigger than anyone at or to do with the club, the commitment to the team collective and I could go on and on.
It isn't just these things, it's also the simple fact that Poch oozes charisma in a very down to earth, honest way. He's profoundly competitive but always respectful. In short, he has class. Genuine, natural class. Love the man and long may he reign.

He's so magic that mystic Dan Storey at F365 is convinced that he will go to Spain this year.

http://www.football365.com/news/football365s-ten-football-predictions-for-2017

The last calendar year in which none of Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid or Barcelona changed their manager was 1972. With Zinedine Zidane the latest to be appointed in January 2016, we’re due a change at one or more of those clubs in 2017.

When they do come up, Mauricio Pochettino is going to be in demand (and that’s without discussing Paris St Germain or another club in the Premier League). He played in Spain, he managed in Spain, he knows Spain. There will be interest.

So that leaves us with Pochettino’s decision of whether to stay at Tottenham or take one of the biggest (and most well-paid) jobs in his industry. Sorry Spurs fans, and I do hope I’m wrong, but I can’t see him turning it down.

Nonsense and clickbait from a drunken hack with a deadline, of course. I still like to think that Poch enjoys the security of time to complete his project. But then I was insistent that Bale wasn't going anywhere.

I'm quite happy with Poch as seems to have good bond with players and they're all staying because of him, whereas in previous seasons they may have agitated for move.

We have an excellent back four and goalkeeper, which contains frances number 1 goalkeeper, England's best full backs and belgiums best centre backs.

Midfield wise we're getting there as last season with either Dier or Dembele missing there was issues but we now have Wanyama and the emergence of Winks.

And centre forward with have Kane, who i love conditionally.

Attacking midfield we're a little hit and miss as Eriksen has the quality but needs to add the consisterly and perhaps more of a winning mentality? He's shown he can take set pieces and provide / score goals but needs to be a little more reliable. Very much worth persisting with though.

Ali again is inconsistent but will improve.

Son also needs to be more consistent as has shown can do it but has been damn awful as well.

Lamela is missed.

But we do really need a pacey winger to throw into that mix and mix things up a bit, but Poch is slowly getting there and adding players. Ndokokou has a lot of potential as well.

I was at the game yesterday and it's prompted me to start an appreciation thread for our incredible manager Poch. We slate our team and managers so often when it doesn't go to plan but Poch really deserves such huge credit and appreciation.

The way our team weathered the initial 10 minute storm and 1-0 deficit to come back and not only win but win comfortably is testament to our players but mostly to our manager who has installed a belief and resilience in our players, club, fans as well as giving our team a clear identity, style of play and tactical structure. We got it spot on yesterday and Southampton couldn't cope, we looked on another level the first 10 minutes aside.

Ok that is his job you might say but easier said than done as we we'll know having been through endless managers over the last 20 years or so. A minority few may not agree with the way we play and suggest too much backwards or sideways passing but more often than not we 'dominate' games which is why our defence is so good as we usually restrict our opponents to little attacking opportunities and wear teams down with our possession play, another reason why we score a lot of goals in the final qtr of the match(Just like Fergies Utd teams used to do).

That is a brilliant base to build from, Potch has then brilliantly assessed the squad and those who don't cut it mentally or technically are moved on, no excuses. His man management has been excellent especially with new players like Son when he wanted to leave and Sissoko by dropping him to give him a kick up the arse.

As Danny Rose said 'Poch is the only manager who's actually spent time to improve me as a left-back'. What the hell were the previous managers doing?!!! But look at how good and consistent Walker and Rose are now compared to 3,4,5 seasons ago!! The improvement is staggering to be honest.

Let's be honest here finances make a huge difference in football and we've really been behind the 4 clubs above us and Man.Utd for the entirity of the premier league and not just a litttle bit I'm taking a big margin with regards to revenue and transfer fees and wages. Levy is working hard to close that gap off the pitch and Poch is doing an amazing job on it to make us punch above our weight and now consistently compete with these teams. So much so that opposing fans see the league as having a super top6 who are on another level! I'm impressed we're now part of that as in the past there was the top4 and we scrapped our way to 5-8th finishes but points and gd and quality wise we were really no where near the top4's level. Hence why we pretty much always lost to them, that is most certainly not the case now!

I know we've not won anything yet but I really think that will come the way this squad is developing and that is 100% down to our manager. It's refreshing watching us knowing how we will play and knowing the players all buy into this way of playing and working together as a team.

We had a fairly slow start to the season and the CL was a learning curve but were in a strong position in the league and I'm hopeful we can really give one of the two cups were left in a really good go.

The recent home wins against the lower teams and now away win vs Southampton yesterday are all games Spurs of the past would've messed up at least one of them would've been a draw or even a stupid loss, but the chances of that now happening are slimer due to our team having a structure, clear plan week in week out against whoever we play. Poch and our young team are still learning but how he's got us performing with the resources he's had deserves such huge credit!!

HES MAGIC YOU KNOW!!! And I bloody love the guy!!

COYS!!
Damn you. I need to wank now.

I've come to the conclusion that you need to know your shit to understand why yesterdays performance was impressive.
I get that people can get emotional and nervous throughout the game, but looking back at the game and assessing it in a more businesslike manner shows an away team unfazed by a poor start and momentum towards them. A team that start turning the screw and pinning a very decent home side into their own box, and not letting them out until they've been pummeled into submission.

It wasn't swashbuckling, but we showed maturity, quality and mental strength. Arsenal lost 4-0 there a year ago after a somewhat similar start.

I basically agree with the OP......but.........We're having a good spell. Poch is loved. When we hit another rough patch the usual suspects will be out with 'this is on Poch' or 'that is on Poch'.....funnily enough, I don't see those people using that phrase when we're doing well. I hope the guy is in charge for many years to come. Unless we lose our next game :woot:

Wasn't excited when he came but he has definitely improved this side. Just see the difference in Rose and Walker. Very happy at the moment, at least until the next draw or loss ;)

You forgot Eriksen's low shot that was deflected inches wide. Also, the excellent passing move early on, where Eriksen was picked out inside the box with two yards of space, but took a slightly heavy first touch.
