Very difficult. I picked Jennings over Loris - just. Only goalie I can remember who could catch the ball at a full stretch, with one hand, and was brilliant at stopping the ball with his feet in one on ones. For me that team has it all, great defence, speedy full backs who were really good at crossing the ball, great and feared DM, pace, artistry, poacher and real power up front.

EDIT: It must be remembered that the current side is very young. I do think that, if they stay, some more of them could eventually be good enough to get into the greatest ever side. Only time will tell.

2nd EDIT: I had had a few when I selected that team. In the cold light of day the only change I would make is Hoddle for Cliff Jones. The attacking three would be roaming. Now changed.

You're lucky to have seen these wonderful players in your lifetime Sir, and I'm happy to see the legends of Jones, Mackay and Greaves in that team. And its interesting but testament to their brilliance that King and Toby are there ahead of Norman or England.

But Im curious to why Blanchflower and Hoddle are not there in your list. In the numerous "greatest spurs players" articles I've read over the years, there were many different players in the top 10, but it was always Mackay, Blanchflower, Greaves and Hoddle in the top 4.

Any particular reason for omitting theae 2?

I well remember Pat's 'greatest save' versus Newcastle. Fantastic keeper.

Great team only change I would make would be to put Hoddle into middle three and play bale where Chivers is .
Bench
Lloris
D . Thomas
England
Ardilles
Chivers
Klinsmann
Mabbut

You're right about Hoddle, I had a few last night and forgot him, which is odd as I saw his home debut and went home and bored my first wife stupid, predicting a long England future for him! As regards Danny B. I think he had retired before I started going to games. As a club we have had some real genius amongst our past players and to pick a 1st XI from them is really hard as there were so many greats.

Walker and Rose for me are the only ones who would (or might) make my top team ... but I go back to 1961 as a supporter. I have a soft spot for Perryman, Knowles and Kinnear but I don't think we have ever had the best full backs around until now
How about Danny Thomas of 80's team.

Good player. It's just that I think our current full backs have an athleticism that is rare and this is on top of their ability. Also for defenders they are still young so I expect them to get better both in terms of use of the ball and positioning ... defenders usually improve as they go along. Always difficult though comparing especially against legends like Perryman and Knowles whom I would have above other full backs in terms of favourite players rather then the best

Great little player until that **** from QPR? ended his career for him - apart from his little penalty miss too in the 84 UEFA cup final, not a costly miss though.

I just can't comprehend how some have omitted Hoddle from their team.

He's definitely and without any shadow of a doubt, the best midfielder ever to play for us.
Someone has 'doh'd this?? What the feckin' feck???

Hoddle every day of every year, hands down.

And Lineker up front for me.

Closest entrant from current team would be Kane, who in ten years o believe will walk into anyone's all time XI

Clemence

Gough
Mabbutt
King

Waddle
Modric
Gascoigne
Ardiles
Bale

Hoddle

Berbatov

In my Spurs supporting lifetime (born in 85, realistically developed an interest in 93, loved Barmby):

Lloris
Walker Campbell King Rose
Modric Dembele
Bale VanDerVaart Ginola
Kane
Goes to show how much we've improved under Levy'sstewardship. 5 from the current side, 4 from the Redknapp side, only 2 from the 90s collection.

I've been watching football since the day Jimmy Greaves made his debut in December 1961 and I can honestly say with my hand on my heart, I have never seen a better goalkeeper than Pat Jennings. Not here in the UK, nor anywhere else in the world.

God bless him. Like he says on the video clip, he's Tottenham through and through, same as all of us.
