Yes, he scored that great goal tonight, but his overall play was very good as well.

Luka Modric vs Man United (31 minutes): 1 goal, 2 shots, 4 chances created, 97% (34/35) passing, 4 take-ons.

He should never be competing with Ozil for a place in the starting 11. They actually complement each other well. If they want to maximize his strengths, he needs to be involved in the build-up. Otherwise, it's a waste of a very good player and a lot of money.

A really nice video of his play so far this year (from about a month ago):

Just an incredible player. I wish he left under better circumstances so I could be proud to say he played for us.

I think I was always one of the biggest admirers of Modric, and even though he had his weaknesses I just loved how simple he plays the game.

In comparison Dembele, who is obviously very talented, tend to over complicate things. The one touch passing and knowing when to run with it or not from Luka was one of the reasons we were so exciting to watch.

I guess he'll have to start doing this on a regular basis if he wants to have a career at Madrid as 40 minutes against a 10 man team who were behind and so pushing isnt enough for me.

Hes one of the most expensive players in the world and hes not stepped up as yet.

He is slowly being integrated into what is a world class squad.
His half hour last night and when I last watched at the weekend him was exceptional.
Space time, quick turnover of the ball, neat pass and move, heartbeat stuff.
He must have been doing lots of shooting practice too.
He's playing further forward than he did for us
but will increasingly challenge Ozil for a starting place.
Kaka's return after a long lay off and recuperation will complicate things if K stays.
He doesn't look out of place in their team and Mourinho will come to trust him more
as will the Real supporters who appreciate quality.

I for one was pleased to see how well he played last night. Some on here seem to forget just how good a player he was for us and now just want to show him disrespect.

He was outstanding last night.
And to think I didn't used to understand what all the fuss was about with Luka :notworthy:

Still one of my favourites, shame has it ended but that £30m probably helped us move on - I'd welcome him back with open arms.
