He's worth far more than that in today's market.

He's in the top 4/5 in the world in his position, without a doubt.
If De Gea is 50m, then Lloris is at least equal to that.

... agent negotiation fee? Because surely that's not a transfer value, that would just be plain silly.

For some reason, I'm vaguely optimistic that he'll stay this summer.

It seems Real have set their sights on De Gea, and don't see GK as a priority, and I don't see which other top club could get him.

Juventus - Buffon.
Barca - Ban + Ter Stegen.
Bayern - Neuer obviously.
PSG - Lloris has said he's not returning to france.
Athletico don't have the money.
We won't sell to a prem club, and City have Hart, Chelsea have Courtois etc.

I agree, I don't think he's going anywhere for awhile, and for the reasons you cite and then some. I have a hunch he actually enjoys the challenge of playing for us as well. If we get scored on, fingers rarely get pointed at him. But in the process, he gets to weekly put on showcases of how incredible of a keeper he is. He has no more rungs to climb in the national team ladder (seemingly has the full respect of Deschamps as evidenced by him big boying Nasri last summer), and according to Trix seems to very much enjoy life with his family in London.

I don't think he's going anywhere for quite awhile. Would never have said anything like that for Modric or Bale.

He's worth far more than that to us. Price/value is subjective, based off how important the player is to the club. Hugo is a player we can't afford to lose, and should we ever be forced to sell him, the fee could likely be far more than this reported price.

Don't underestimate the family factor either. https://twitter.com/marinelloris You wouldn't be retweeting people asking Hugo not to leave if you knew they would be upping sticks in the summer. I'm cautiously hopeful he will stay next season. Obviously i'd be more confident if we were to get CL, but even without i'd be hopeful.

Another thing is to remember as a GK, he still has time on his side. He's clearly a person who takes care of himself, and having only just turned 28 he knows he's got at LEAST 7 years left as a world class keeper. Heck, he was being kept out of the team by a 41 year old when he first joined.

I think Hugo is the one player that MoPo has definitely improved. Last season his kicking was pure shit. This season I do not have the horrors with every back pass.

God damn, his wifes a smoke!!!!!

£22.5m? Fuck. That. Noise. Try quadrupling that, then you got his worth.

To us he's irreplaceable

I wouldn't be happy if levy accepted anything less than 50 million

Fixed your post (y)
Yea that's true - I wouldn't be happy with any sum of money just as I am not happy with the money we received for Bale

Want I meant to say is - anything less than £50m then on top of my frustration with selling Hugo I would also be unhappy that we sold him for less than he should be valued

tbh, though, I have an uncomfortable niggling suspicion that he WILL be sold in the summer. I find it hard to believe Vorm would join, knowing he was only ever going to be a bit part player.

De Gea to Real; Hugo to United? If we don't get Champions League, I think that Hugo, Eriksen and Vertonghen will all want out. Can you see Levy resisting the opportunity to bring in £80m+ and then pick up a handful of frees (Moreno, Ings, Delph, Reid)?
