If we got 22.5 million I would be disgusted one of the top keepers in the world. Fantastic player that we will see leaving the lane for a huge club unfortunately

To us he's irreplaceable

I wouldn't be happy if levy accepted anything less than 50 million

That's all very well, but what would we do with it? Where would we find another player of his quality? He's one of the world's greatest goalkeepers, and believe me, the special ones like him don't grow on trees.

Naah. I would hope if anyone turned up with £50 million for him, Levy would tell them to shove it.

As I said to the previous poster who basically made the same statement in response to my post

I'm not meaning I would actually be happy to sell him for £50 million - far from it he is irreplaceable- just like I wasn't happy when we sold Bale for all the money he went for

I am speaking hypothetically in response to the suggestion that we value him at £22m

I'm saying that IF HE WERE SOLD (so therefore not a matter of saying we don't want to sell him or what would we do with the money anyway etc etc) then I would expect/accept us demanding £50m as a minimum

I am not saying I would want to sell him for £50m - simply suggesting that the fee touted in this article would need to be doubled for it to even represent reasonable compensation for him leaving (just like Bale's £80m was acceptable compensation for his value even though he was irreplaceable to us and I would have preferred to have kept him)

If Lloris like Bale forced a move and it were beyond our control the valuation should be north of £50m - my point is the fee suggested isn't even close to what I feel he's worth

Fair do's. I wasn't suggesting you or anyone else was advocating his sale, you'd be bonkers to think such a thing, I was merely questioning the hypothetical valuation. No worries.

Well I was trying to be realistic with my expectations too

I believe if we were put in such a position where he was pushing a move and our hand was forced - £50m would likely be what we could get (there or there abouts)

The world record fee ever for a keeper is less than 50m I believe - and that was before the FPP restrictions were in place

As I said I certainly wouldn't want us to sell him and I know he'd be impossible to replace but if our hand were forced I'd expect £50m or hopefully a bit over to be a realistic fee we could command (certainly not the £22.5m suggested here - but equally I doubt anyone would pay £80m or £100m for a keeper in the FPP era)

Good shout. On another note of course, is that Hugo has made absolutely no mention to anyone that he wants to get away from us, or that he'll be off in the summer if we don't make top four. Maybe naively, I think he's perfectly happy here, as Eriksen appears to be, which is greatly encouraging.

I think these players can see what Pochettino is trying to do and they're starting to latch onto his ideas as a work in progress.

All in all I'd say, very encouraging.

I really hope that is the case

Although if a team like Real or Barca come in the loyalty of any player is going to be tested

Good news is reports suggest Real are plotting on De Gea so would be less probability of him wanting out any time soon (Barca bought Ter Stegen not long ago too)

Roma couldn't afford to pay my mortgage never mind purchase a world class player from either the EPL OR La Liga.

LThe top earner in Italy earns £80k a week and would be blown out of the water by at least 20 other clubs including Spurs.

Serie A is a backwater league these days. This is the result of not investing in your product, your stadia and years of boring football.

Lol.

225 used to be the teletext page for spurs news - used to be on it constantly as a kid (that and Bamboozle!) so the number got drilled into my head, hence the name!

Maybe HITC's too in reference to that figure?

Got to say I read the site because I dip into all the shite on newsnow. It is seriously rubbish - young fans trying out their journalistic skills through that relatively new site.

Think it's pretty obvious which club will come in for him.....PSG.
He's the French captain and their keeper, Sirigu,
isn't exactly indespensible. He will go for a big fee though. 22.5 is too Iight for Levy. Think it will be more like 35-40.
Hopefully we will get another season out of him but at some stage the Boss will be off.

PSG isn't in shape to be snapping him up.

They've got FFP breathing down their necks, their whole manager situation looks to be in total flux, they haven't really done anything in CL and now when they were once almost guaranteed Ligue 1 winners each year that's totally gone out the window with Marseille and Lyon giving them a huge challenge.
