They aren't happy to let him go, they are livid. He has one year left on his contract so they have no choice but to cash in.
That wasn't my impression. Moreso that they would keep him if he'd accept lower wage demands? If he was such a talent you would think they could at least match Tottenham to keep him around, surely?

Barcelona are up shit creek without a paddle for the wage cap they have in Spain. Probably couldn't offer him anything higher.

Jaysus I was only playing buddy. Obviously not knowing you IRL I misread the situation. My friends and I like to fuck with each other. That's our humour, but we don't like to cross the line, and obviously I have. Accept my humble apology.
Anyway like I said in my previous post, like who you like, who are we to judge you. Have a nice evening.
Sorry I wound you up mate. I thought it was fairly clear I was making a joke but obviously not!

It was blatantly obvious that you were both being lighthearted & attempting to have a chuckle.

At the end of the day, it is extremely rare to come across anyone who has even the slightest bit of time for James fucking Corden, let actually like the annoying ****.

Neither of you said anything offensive towards any fellow SC member, and neither of you were even harsh towards the talentless thunder**** that is James Corden.

I'm the biggest moaning **** on here when it comes to respecting others, guilty as fucking charged. But neither of you said a single thing wrong, and it was ridiculously clear that you were joking.

Sorry for fucking what?

Barcelona are skint and couldn't even keep their greatest ever player in Messi. Pique had to cut his salary by 50% so Barca could register other players apparently. So no they can't match what we offer.

That’s how I’d read it.
Barca offered a long contract with a big release clause, he/his family felt the wage on offer didn’t match, so they asked for more money, reflective of the buyout clause.
Barca thought it was too much and played hardball, telling them he either signed or sat in the stands for twelve months until his deal ran out. And that’s where we are. Spurs have stepped in with a bid so Barca get to cash in, and we are now trying to put a deal together reflective of his ability and potential.
At the rumoured €15m, so long as the wages aren’t ludicrous, I see it as a ‘can’t lose’ situation. He either proves a success and his value increases significantly. If he fails, €15m should be easy to recoup. I actually prefer these type of deals than the big money Ndombele deals.

That may be so, but I find it a little hard to believe they can't even afford to keep Moriba. They've got Messi off their books now. In any case I hope you're right and it's not just Spurs overpaying for somebody who may or may not be either the next Modric or the next Sissoko.

This is why I love this site. An 18 year old youth player from Barcelona is linked, we’ve had scouts watching him and assessing how he would fit in, then from what we’ve taken in we’ve decided to try and jump ahead of Real Madrid and Leipzig by getting an offer in because lots of people in the football world have said he has a lot of potential and promise to become something special..

...but on SC, we shouldn’t sign him because Barry from Clapham who is at home, toast crumbs down his t-shirt, wasn’t aware of who the lad was last week, and doesn’t fancy him from his YouTube highlights. ???‍♂️

Even with Messi off the books they had to reduce a lot of other players/staff wages just to register enough players. It's not a case of just offering him anything he needs to keep him, but it has to fit into their bidgetbudget

He's being used to make an example. He's one of their highest rated products of la masia, always was. They broke their wage structure when they handed him his first pro contract, because of his potential.
Problem for Barcelona now is, because of their ex president, that they are completely broke. You have seen the news that all of their players have to negotiate lower contracts, to even be able to register the players they brought in on a free rhis summer.
Now they have this la masia prospect, not willing to do, even wanting higher wages while all this is going on.
So he is used as an example, to show that none of them is bigger then the club. That's why he's so cheap, not because they do not value him. But they know that if they give in now, all other players will be furious and other youth prospects could take the same route.

To be honest, he and his managers are greedy pricks and i think barca does the right thing in telling him to fuck off. Still he's a generational talent, and from our perspective we should do all we can to get him. In a normal situation, we would never be able to get him, so even with the noises around, he will be immensely valuable to us in the future.

And i have watched him numerous times, for barcas b team and their first 11. He's ridiculously good.

I'm not sure if we can read too much into this. They are always going to try and find space for academy players for at least a few appearances. The real question is why are they seemingly so happy to let him go, if he is indeed a "generational talent"?
They are not happy to get rid of him they have tried to tie him down to a new long term contract but his representatives have asked for a wage that because of the prior administration mishandling of the club Barca just afford.

I fear his agents are going to win here but let's hope he puts his foot down and convinces them that spending a year sitting on Barca's bench when he could be playing regular first-team football will have long-term implications for his career.

Yeah I understand that, I just wonder if it's all a little overblown in the media about how skint they really are. Same with Inter Milan for example they seem to be doing okay despite being in a terrible financial crisis according to the media.

Some on here need to have a day off.

Barca broke their youth salary cap for him at 16, he is 18 years of age international who Koeman was raving about since he broke into the Barca team (that's right I did type in Barca not fucking Burnley) and some on here don't want him?!?:banghead:

He could end up being a dud, but he could end up being very good. It isn't a huge amount of money and it's worth the gamble. At this stage, there is no reason to worry about it.

I’d understand the worries if we were spending £30M+ for this guy, but we really aren’t. We’re getting a top rated player who may or may not make it, yet if the rumoured fee we are paying is £15 or so million, it really isn’t a risk in regards to making it or not making it here or wanting to leave in 4 years time. We will either have an amazing player with us for 4 years and more, or we get our money back and more.

Don't get me wrong, I'm happy the club is looking to invest in the future. I'm just a little skeptical when I see people over on COYS saying this kid is going to be "world class" for example. At 10-15m I think it is worth the gamble, but the figures being thrown around yesterday were more in the 20-40m range and then I just wonder if a signing like this comes at the expense of somebody who can slot in to the first team immediately- even if they have less overall "potential".

Sometimes jokes aren't actually funny and can be taken the wrong way. Either way it was dealt with last night and you didn't need to bring it up again.

But since you did. For whatever reason the things I like are the ones always questioned. Do you know how annoying that gets? Time and time again. Whether it be Spurs, wrestling, Nickelback, James Corden, Friends, Big Bang Theory etc. Joke or not I was mentally done last night. I posted a simple GIF which was meant to mean fingers crossed for this Moriba deal. That was all. Then I got questioned why I like James Corden as if there was something wrong with me. You even say it's rare to find someone who likes him. That in itself is unnecessary.

If I overreacted then fine. But after a lifetime of bullying because of what I enjoy I struggle to see jokes from time to time and although I don't get triggered like I used to, I still do once or twice.

Ending this here because I want to forget it and move on.
