I know I've come into this discussion late but I'd just like to say that twice in the last 2 weeks I've text my other half to let them know I'm horny. Both times, as well as just now before I edited it, it came out as Holtby.
The second text I realised just before I sent it so edited it, but the first one read, word for word - 'Actually I'm feeling Holtby so I might crack one out before you get home' (smiley face).
This seemed like a good thread to tell people that.
Now THAT is unforgivable....And the most annoying of all
"The Tottenham Hotspurs"
I'm guilty of it but i'm such a bad speller. I find it really tricky remembering foreign names. The Zokora one though there's really no excuse. I mean it's a pretty simple name to remember.
I remember early on I used Roche instead of Rocha and I nearly got lynched. It was literally the first time I'd typed his name and he'd only signed like a week before. Bit much that.
Not footy related but lots of people type definately and that rubs me up the wrong way I've got to say. I was guilty of it myself though I'll admit. The weird thing is, who would ever type definate? I mean it just looks completely ridiculous.
Another one is they're, their and there.
And "should of".
The one that really makes me want to chew my own face off is 'loose' instead of 'lose'. As in "I've got a feeling we're going to loose today".
Loose what? Loose trousers? Loose change? Loosen our inhibitions and really go for it?
I've got a Johnny Thunders LP with the title 'Born to Loose'. To this day I can't tell if it's deliberate or just idiotic.
Your right. Their wrong.
Know.Anyone that disagrees should back of. Their going too loose. End off.
Does my head in. Every time.
I have to back off, though. I have eidetic spelling: when I learn a new word, the order of the letters is just part of learning the word and I never spell it wrong, ever. I don't understand how people can chronically get words and names wrong. Isn't the way the letters are ordered intrinsic to the word? If the letters are in a different order, it must be a different word.
It's very hard for people to whom spelling comes easily to accept that people who chronically misspell words aren't just being fucking lazy. But I guess they aren't. I think. Most of the time. Well. Sometimes, anyway...
He does have the immense dimensions to do that but he seems to think Lamela is spelt Lennon, I can see how he got it wrong but he must try harder with his spellings and shit
Easy Shonks! Deep, healing breathsPedantic bunch of pillocks.
Is all I have to say to those worrying about such a fuckery of a subject.

Meh, just don't know why it bothers people - pretty obvious when someone is talking about any particular player, even if the name is spelt incorrectly.
It's not disrespectful or any other name given by some in here - this is a fricking forum, not work or school, lots post from work, so quickly type something out, without checking, some can't spell properly, and some just don't pay attention to such trivial shite such as how a name is spelt ;-)

Do not assume that 'pedantic' is an insult. It's a compliment to pedants. People just relate to language differently. For some like me, raised the way I was, words are a game and the object is (a) to say or write what you mean as precisely as you can and (b) to have fun while you're doing it.
Saying things backwards. Spoonerisms. Pig-Latin. Puns. Impossible tongue-twisters. Memorising nonsense rhymes. Spelling things backwards. That was the backdrop of my childhood - my whole family are like that. And the spelling thing is just part of it.
As I wrote above, eventually I had to learn that not everyone is like me. Same goes for you.
