Is Fazio's Spurs place in danger amid Dier's recent form?

Fazio and Vertonghen is still our best CB pair and hasnt done anything warranting being dropped. Dier is good though and should be our #3 CB right now. Gotta find a 4th.

It is comforting to know we finally actually have a competent and good enough CB though behind them if one gets hurt.

Not entirely sure that Dier isn't second choice.
He hasn't been given enough time yet.
I can think of one or two Fazio moments.
Good to have a challenger though I agree.

Dier looks better to me and when you say Fazio hasn't done anything warranting dropping, Dier didn't deserve dropping for Fazio in the first place and looked far more composed. Fazio on the other hand was lucky to stay in the team amid his card collecting ultra rash first few games.

Early days yet but encouraging performances from Dier. We certainly see less poor and ill considered distribution from Dier and that means that the cleared ball doesn't see us back under immediate pressure so much. I also thought against Sheffield Walker looked better with Dier alongside as if they had a better understanding.
Of course Dier started off pretty well at right back granted not his preferred position but his lack of experience started to manifest itself after that good early start. Hopefully playing his chosen role he has less aspects to learn and less mistakes now in his game to learn from, either way it's good to have the option of the more experienced Fazio to come in if he does hit a poor spell or needs a break.
I also think Fazio is a very strong aerial presence that is useful against certain teams, that said Dier does look pretty strong in the air himself
It's a nice situation to have, now if we can offload Eunice and Vlad and get in a quality CB we will have a strong set of CB options

Nothing to do with being in danger, they are different centre backs and should be deployed as needed. It's something we have missed for a long time, actual competition at centre back.

I fantasise about an Eriksen corner smashing into the sweetspot of Fazio's forehead. It hasn't happened yet to my knowledge. Why?

Horses for courses. Faz is a beast in the air, Dier has more pace and agility. Happy with either playing on current form. What a great situation for Poch to be in. Also looks like Dier could cover very well for Vertonghen.

I think both have done better this season than I initially expected. As long as Jan keeps up his good form, I don't really mind who partners him. I'd imagine we'd play them depending on our opponent.

Fazio worries me, less the defending more giving the ball away in front of goal. Whereas the few games Dier has played at CB he has looked very composed, with the ball and off the ball. He's certainly a better CB than a RB

I think all our centre backs have too many mistakes in them, there really are no exceptions.

But I think I am with the majority here in saying that I would like to see Dier playing ahead of Kaboul.

If Poch wants to persist with Jan and Fazio that is fine, but Eric must be next in line.

I don't want to even see sight of Chiriches.

I think I prefer Dier in defence, plus he can score the odd goal.

I'm not inclined to compare Dier and Fazio, totally different players as CB's go.

Fazio wins almost every aerial duel that he competes in.

Dier is more similar to Verts imo. Good on the ball but smaller and less imposing that Fazio.

JV and Fazio has been successful this season so when he's fit I expect him to play. Dier will be a starter in the long run and will turn out to be one of our best players I believe.

I think Dier playing rb has tainted some views of his excellent performance at cb. He is no rb and of course will get found out there. I'd love to see how you'd rate Fazio playing rb, although hopefully we never have to endure that.

14 wins in 18 games with Fazio and Vertongen.

Best football has been played with Kane as the man up top.

Don't change things that clearly work.

Dier should keep his place because he has played well, Ii think as long as he continues to do that, he will keep his place.
