Cf - adebayor
RW - shaqiri
LB - aly cissokho

these 3 are all gettable targets..we just need to spend some cash and we turn into title challengers immediately..not winners. but at least we'll challenge the title every year.

Need a ST, Versatile Winger, and maybe a CB in January.

We buy players who will bring added quality to the squad, whether that is a player who comes into the first team immediately or plays his way into the team is a different story.

Yep, I agree -- ST (too thin up top), versatile winger (Cristian Rodriguez please), and a CB (not Cahill please) ought to do IF there are quality personnel available to buy. Otherwse, rest of season loan signings might fit the bill. No panic buys please

If we signed shaqiri it would be as a vdv backup. He's not got the pace to play on the wing in our system. I would like to see either townsend or hoilet come in as a backup winger and finally a new forward. I think rose is capable back up for bae at the moment.

He hasn't got Lennon or Walcott type pace, but, he's got a different type of pace if that makes sense. He's powerful when running with the ball in a Rooney, Lavezzi, or Gascoigne type of way and he can go past players no problem. You could definitely play him behind the front man like you say which would be another bonus but I think he would be very good out wide. For me also he's a far better footballer than Hoilet and much stronger too.

I think a winger is key in the summer, a right sided one at that. If we can find one that plays on both side, thats a bonus.
When Lennon is injured or out of form playing Modric or VDV isnt ideal in my opinion.

A striker, having to rely on Pav is a sign that this is a weak department.

We don't need Cahill or a centre back at this moment in time, maybe at the end of the season, when I see Gallas, Bassong and the possibility King may not get a new deal, in the interim our defence is fine at the minute.

What about Caulker?

There are definite areas we could upgrade, but we need to be really careful about doing it in January.

This time last year Redknapp wanted to bring in Andy Carroll ! Would we be watching Adebayor this season if he had ?

We clearly need a back up for Adebayor, but who can you sign who will accept he's Adebayor's understudy ?

Pav and Defoe are incredibly limited, but for sitting on our bench we could do worse I guess ?

Other than that I would love a crafty, attacking midfielder. Benayoun would have been a perfect fit for us, I was really disappointed we didn't nab him. He's happy to not play every game, but would have offered something we don't quite have and enabled us to play a different way.

I really can't see us doing much business, and I can't really say I'll be devastated if we don't.

I'd ship out Pav and bring in a striker who is can play the lone striker role. We don't have to scout for a world beater, as whilst Adebayor is fit, will always play. For a short term understudy, would it be worth looking at Kenwyne Jones, Tuncay or Bobby Zamora. These are short term back up options, and probably a more relaiable bet than Pav, which maybe the best option available until we can reassess again in the summer.

I agree that Hoillet would provide an enhanced level of depth to our squad.
How much do we think we could get him for?

Im not convinced he would be as cheap as people make out, because he is one of the very few players in the blackburn team who has real attacking quality, and is therefore hugely important for them.

His contract is down in the summer i know, but i wouldn't be surprised if Blackburn were willing to take the hit on losing him for free in august.
( unless we offered upward of £10 million imo )

Has he played many games on the right for blackburn that people of watched? i would be interested to know if he looks as comfortable.

Finally, i would be surprised if Liverpool didn't go for him in a big way.

Shaquiri would be immense, but is out of our league imo.

Blackburn would definitely take much lower if it was a case of losing him for free... but it isn't. He'd be on a tribunal fee.

Nevertheless, I'd be surprised if they turned down a second bid of £8m, if the player declared his intention to leave after a first offer.

I'll tell you who has looked a very good signing, in fact signing of the season, Demba Ba on a free.

He has looked the real deal playing the lone striker role in front of Ben Arfa

Dodgy knee though. We already have a player with one of those.

In terms of squad depth and positions without much like for like cover I think we need another right winger and lone striker, whilst cover/competition for BAE would be nice.

Jose Enrique would've been a good buy in the summer as he was quite cheap and Liverpool got him fairly late one iirc so we could've got him early. I'm not as big a BAE fan as everyone else as he's prone to lapses in concentration but he has improved loads in the last year. There don't seem to be many left backs going atm though.

For the right winger, perhaps Hoilett or Dembele but I don't know if they've played there much although both are quick and skillful players. Marin prefers the left I think so wouldn't fit in.

A backup for Adebayor is probably the most important and everyone seems to want Leandro although I've only seen the odd youtube clip of the guy so wouldn't be in a position to judge him. If we want a cheaper option doesn't Shane Long lead the line for West Brom and he's been impressive - he's quick, works hard and can score or create a goal. I still believe Gyan would've been a good buy for us and would've thrived in our team.

HARRY REDKNAPP wants Spurs to shake up the Premier League title race with one massive signing next month.

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy failed in bids for Sergio Aguero and Giuseppe Rossi last season but has been urged to land a target that will "make a difference" this time around.

Boss Redknapp said: "We've got to be a club looking to go places. The potential is great here. We sell out every week, we've got good players. If we're going to make a signing, let's make one big signing. That would send out a message. But it's difficult finding that player who would make a difference."

What are Kaka's wage demands like?

But where would he play?

I just can't believe that we'd be lucky enough to get a first choice player in January. We're likely to pick up squad options, such as a cheap option up front (Amauri), a fast-break player (Hoilett), a youngish centre-back (Samba). Proper cover at LB?

The worry is that one or two players are starting to look tired already, and we haven't even got to January yet. Hopefully players like Defoe will return from injury refreshed, but Harry has got to start playing people like Kranjcar soon, he's just got to.

Samba a youngish CB? He's 27! Coming up 28 in March! I feel we need to go for a top class centre back from abroad, I don't think Samba is much different to Kaboul. I'd rather we scouted for a younger cb with more potential that could come in and learn from King/Gallas/Dawson.

As for Kaka...I think we have more chance of signing Klinsmann back for the rest of the season. I would be surprised if Jose let him go, although he doesn't seem to start a lot this season he has been one of their better players.

I'd rather we give Caulker a chance before buying more CBs, unless there's a very good one available for cheap out there. It's more important to find cover for Ade and an attacker who can play on the right in Jan.

Well they're actually both kinda my point. We already have Caulker as the future player to mould, and Kaboul as the potential CB for the next five years. King and Gallas have maybe two and one years left respectively, and Bassong and the South African guy whose name escapes me may be on the way out. Dawson is there or thereabouts, and that leaves room for a youngish CB (27 as a CB is youngish, with at least five good years left).
