Is Josh King Good Enough For Spurs?

First of all, lets not lessen what he has done this season. King has scored 12 goals in last 14 games, including scoring against Chelsea, Liverpool, United, Everton (2), WestHam (3). Any player who does this has to be respected regardless of age. We may slate Vardy but a similar run was the core to the Leicester success last year.

Secondly, for someone who is 25, he has hardly started 100 games & importantly rarely played as a striker. Even this season, his move to a more forward role came because of a injury to Wilson & Afobe not being good enough. We have seen in the past including Drogba that some can be late bloomers.

From what little I have seen of him, he is an intelligent player who is constantly on the move & takes his chances cleanly when presented.

Where I agree with you is on the transferfee. We need someone to back up Kane but not at a huge fee. Given his recent exploits, I dont see a fee < 20m. But if we could get a fee between 15m to 20m, I am not against the move.

I'm not trying to lessen his achievements, I have said it's a big improvement. It's also something I have seen pretty much every season from various players. At 25 I just think he is far too much of a risk based on a three month scoring spree.

Lol I've woken in a parallel world where 25 years old is suddenly not young...

Fuck me I'm 35 so that must make me well ancient!

We only need someone to cover Kane, someone who can chip in with goals which King has proven he is able to do.

Don't really want to unbalance the squad harmony buying some billy big bollocks who will disrupt things.

And we should still hopefully have Janssen too.

Last season he scored 6 in 31 games. This season he has scored 15 in 34, big improvement. Problem is 12 of those have come since January, meaning he only scored 3 in the first half of the season. This is the very definition of a purple patch and until he is consistently scoring beyond a 3 month period he is nothing more than an OK Premier league Striker who is going through a good spell.
Callum Wilson, their starting striker, didnt go down until the end of January.

Was very surprised when Bournemouth bought him, and even more surprised when they actually managed to turn him into a genuinely good PL striker. Good enough for Spurs? Doubt it.

But I may be letting my earlier judgements of him cloud the picture. He used to be a quick but bang average player with a shitty attitude, but he has definitely made progress beyond what I imagined possible a couple of years ago.
He's playing striker and occasionally AM for Bournemouth. He was strictly a winger at Blackburn

It's too simplistic to look at it like that. Earlier in the season he was mainly on the wing, when he got a solid run at CF is when he started scoring.

Trix - on a wider point, do you think there will be funds available over and above what we bring in from sales this Summer ?
I'm going to repeat a post I made in another thread yesterday because the more people that see it, the better. We don't want to get to the point where we have to go further.....
@Trix won't be answering, hopefully because he remembers the times when asking ITK's questions resulted in mayhem across the board, but also because he's been asked not to. So our policy is, no asking ITK's questions. That way it all runs smoother.

It's a no from me until he can prove himself over more than half a season. Of course that would double the price tag. The thing is, if he's good enough for a title chasing side, he really should be a standout player in a national team as awful as ours. And he's been far from that in his 27 caps so far. That said, the football played under the last coach was so AVB like, it is hard for any attacking player who's not Bale to stand out. But I would like to see him take som responsibility, and he's not doing that at the moment, but maybe that's something that will come with added confidence from a good spell in the league.

That's up to him........the problem is, well, maybe problem isn't the right word, but Trix is one of our own (hehe) and participates as a poster as well as giving info as and when, so there's bound to be some blurring......especially in transfer threads. But soon, the TR and ITK forums will open and all these will be locked, so it'll get easier.

Because they are turning into Snobs

Or maybe some people just don't think he's good enough or what we need.

I got called a hipster fan on here last season for not wanting fucking Jonjo Shelvey.

From what I have seen he is not of the quality required. I've seen him a few times this season and I just don't think he's going to be at the level for the top 6 Prem clubs. I'd also say he isn't good enough for Everton.

I might be right, I might be wrong but just because he has a common name and I don't want him doesn't make me a hipster, a snob, a computer game player or any of the other pathetic insults used on here to write off someone's opinion.

All these "he's only done it for half a season" comments.... Didn't stop us spunking money on a certain Dutch striker.
At least King has done it for half a PL season!

That certain Dutch striker is also 3 years younger, Holland's first choice number 9 (last I heard anyway and hit double figures in the league 3 years in a row in Holland.

Admittedly at a low level but he would have been 18/19 when scoring those goals.

Hardly the same thing is it?
