Is Walker good enough for 1st 11?

Couldn't agree more.

Added to that, our full backs are shit in attack. The best fulls backs in the league, have pace and are a threat.

Corluka can't doesn't forward enough cos it takes him 1 minute to get back.

At least Benny has pace, but he is clearly afraid to go further than the penalty box as well. With Sandro we have more than enough cover if they go on the attack.

Agree.....but luka staying may be influenced by how we treat charlie...tricky one for harry to handle.

Walker has improved over the last 6 months - he's made mistakes, but he'll learn from them, and he was MOM on Sunday

I think that he'll make himself first choice relatively quickly actually - I have very high hopes

Will be hard to get in our first 11 but if he keeps this up he'll get in quite soon. Corluka and Lennon is a fine pairing, but maybe Walker and Lennon will be an even better pairing, we'll see next season.

Get him on whatever training diet Danny Rose has been on. As with Rose, and as with the aformentioned kids at Liverpool - with yesterday being a case in point, young defenders will always be prone to mistakes, particularly as a full back.

I'd really like us to have a crack at Rose-Walker together in pre season, they'll both have more mistakes in them yet but going forward they both look like they'll offer far more than our current two. BAE is a really underrated fullback, but Rose has attacked with more purpose for me in his three appearances, and considering two have been away at big teams, I find that potentially rather exciting.

Either way, I think Hutton's goose might be cooked... with Kaboul and Gallas able to cover fullback too, I think we're ok in that department.

I'm of the opinion that Corluka is actually over rated by our fans.

Pace is vital to a top full back
. Charlie runs like he's shit himself.

Exactly. Now i'm not saying Walker will be the answer, he will definitely need some time, but pace is vital for a full back, as is attacking talent. That's why you don't see 4 CBs playing in a lineup.

Corluka, Walker and Kaboul as additional cover is a decent set of options to have. It's fair to say it's not our strongest position on the pitch still as there's no truly top class player, but at least it's a nicely balanced trio, giving us different options for different games, a blend of youth and experience etc. Charlie is a decent defender who could be improved upon but if sticking with him keeps Modric happy then it's well, well worth it. He's a far better defender than Hutton anyway.

He's rapid, a good passer, crosser and dribbler, decent in the air and can shoot as well. Defensive ability will only improve with game time, but he's an absolute gem and we should throw him in at the deep end in my opinion. He is going to be superb in my opinion, just as exciting a prospect as Rafael at Utd.

I disagree. He lacks pace but he's strong in the tackle, very good positionally, intelligent and, contrary to what you claim, his passing is very crisp (though his crossing is definitely substandard). Plus he has an excellent understanding with Lennon - his lack of game time is one of the main reasons for Lennon's inconsistency this season.

I'm happy for Walker to be competing with Charlie for a first XI place this season though, they both offer something different. Sell Hutton as defensively he's a complete liability.

he must be first choice next season. In a 4-2-3-1 we need attacking fullbacks and in Walker and Bale we have 2 of the very best in the league

I don't think so, not yet.

He's cost them a fair few goals this season. Whilst he's decent going forwards, he's a bit suspect coming backwards. I'm all up for attacking full backs, but they first need to be able to defend and be solid.

I reckon he'll get games, and should get better, but I think people are getting way ahead of themselves thinking he's better than Charlie, who is seriously underrated on here.
Those two comments hit the nail on the head. By all means bring him back into the squad where he can learn fromt he likes of Charlie and be backup, but he is not yet ready to take over as 1st choice from either Charlie or Hutton.

This is one reason why Europa league football will be good I guess, if he's not first choice we should certainly use him in Europe, would be good experience.

I definitely want to see him given a chance at some point, but as has been said he is too defensively weak at this point to start.

I wouldn't be averse to loaning him out again if he doesn't want to sit on the bench here.

If I got to three years at a club and they hadn't played me and wanted to send me out on loan I'd tell them to stick it up their arse and refuse to go on loan and refuse to play for my team too, I'd want a permanent move out and I'd be very surprised if Walker didn't say the same.

Tome Charlie is the Teddy Sherringham of defence. Not fast but more than make up for it with an astute football brain, awareness and experience, qualities that you cannot coach. To me its not a coincidence that Lennon plays that much better with Charlie playing behind him.

Walker should play 10 or so prem games, a good number of cup games and all of our Europa games next season. Great experience.

Sell Hutton keep Walker at the club. We will have enough games for two right backs and they can fight it out for who is first choice, or you know, we could actually rotate.

Walker will make misstakes but he will win you points aswell.
