Is Walker good enough for 1st 11?

Villa fans seem to like him with his attackingness.

Considering RB is a weak link for us, can he take a starting place next year?

I don't think so, not yet.

He's cost them a fair few goals this season. Whilst he's decent going forwards, he's a bit suspect coming backwards. I'm all up for attacking full backs, but they first need to be able to defend and be solid.

I reckon he'll get games, and should get better, but I think people are getting way ahead of themselves thinking he's better than Charlie, who is seriously underrated on here.

I still dont know why this chance didn't come after he slaughtered Everton in the league cup last year.

He's young is Harry's excuse. the boys at Liverpool haven't done bad. The twins at Man U haven't done bad.

your right, the other two are average. No weak, but deffo one of our weakest positions.

Starting place no, squad place with a view to becoming a regular yes.

I would have Corluka and Walker as our two right back options next season. I think Walker given half a season or so could easily replace Corluka as first choice.

Doubt it because of his defensive concerns. He'd be a great super sub at this point tho. Down a goal and need to press on offense? Bring in Walker and have him and Lennon/Young on the right side to try and get the equalizer. Hell, if/when Lennon is out of the lineup I'd give Walker a shot at RW. I think he could be very good cover at those two spots (RB/RW).

He looked pretty comfortable at the emirates yesterday so I'm pretty sure he'll be with us and competing for his place.

Charlie is Brilliant.

Thank you. Walker's looked good on the occasions I've seen him, and I'd not be bothered if he was second choice ahead of Hutton, who I don't rate, but I'm still astounded at the amount of people that don't recognise that Corluka's class. Honestly, how many other Premier League RBs would you choose ahead of him? People go on about his pace but how many times has he been given constant problems by a pacy winger? I'd certainly have a lot more confidence with Corluka at RB against someone like Ashley Young than in Hutton.

I agree with the initial post, RB is a weak area for us. Charlie seems to be a bit like marmite, some of you love him and others hate him. Personally I don't think he's good enough and it's an area we can improve in. I prefer to see YK playing there at the moment.

Hopefully Walker can step up and show he can defend as well as attack and it will save us spending where we don't need to.

I think he should be back and in competition for the place with Corluka, as understudy to start with but if/when he gets his chance next season then if he takes it could be in the team for a very long time to come.

I'm of the opinion that Corluka is actually over rated by our fans.

Pace is vital to a top full back. Charlie runs like he's shit himself.

I asked Harry about Walker. He said he has got quite a lot to learn on defending. Confirms view that he looks great going forward (he used to be a forward and was converted to a full back) but might lack defensive nouse/experience.
Might become number one back up possibly, with Hutton moving on.
Suits me fine as i think Charlie is top class.

IMO out of the starting 11 the places that can be improved on are CB, RB and 2 strikers.

Corluka and Dawson are both good players.

but they arnt in the class of some of our other players like Gallas, VDV, Modders, Lennon and Bale.

I have seen alot of Walker playing for Villa, and from what i have seen, we have got us a little fucking gem, quick positive and getting better and better defensively every week.
Watched him hold his own big time at the scum yesterday, i think he is definately ready to be our first choice RB, loved the way he told van wanker to fuck off.He spent large parts of the game attacking them, they couldn't handle him.

Couldn't agree more.

Added to that, our full backs are shit in attack. The best fulls backs in the league, have pace and are a threat.

Corluka can't doesn't forward enough cos it takes him 1 minute to get back.

At least Benny has pace, but he is clearly afraid to go further than the penalty box as well. With Sandro we have more than enough cover if they go on the attack.

He was excellent at times, not just rapid, but powerful as fuck.
