according to NOTW only barca and the chavs can afford berba at 30m. We canule out chelsea so berbatov plus 10m for eto'o and ronaldinho. It also said that spurs were looking for sponsers to pay some of eto'o 100,000 a week wages
don't eto and ronaldinho hate each other tho? clash of egos thing, so i could n't see them moving together

Oh well, Sky and the tabloids will be delighted. They've been "calling" Berbatov going to a "big" club for months and months. At least they'll be able to move on. Until around a year from now, I fear, when we'll read/hear that Modric is wanted by OWF, Chavs, Real, Barca, Eyeties... whoever.
Can't have that cosy cartel upset by a bunch of norf london yobbos can we?

Its sad that I will be emotional during todays game as it signals the end of berba with spurs. Although I am only 22 I would say he has been the best play I have watched put on a spurs shirt. We just have to be grateful that we were able to watch berba for 2 seasons at the lane. It would have been good if he could have got 50 goals for us but it wasn't to be

All the best berba

What about Ginola, Klinsmann, Robbie Keane has had his fair share of magic moments over the years (that goal against B'burn at home 2 seasons ago still makes me lick my lips like ll cool j).

We can't let him go without having a top class forward lined up, simple as that. But Bent and Keane were fantastic last week...itis possible you know?

I think we will know the truth today...if he really is going we should give him a huge send off

I think it's sad these days that the big four in ther premiership get all the big talent, smaller clubs get a few seasons and if they don't cut the mustard players are off. Spurs have spetn too many times in transition with new managers etc. Berbie has been great and wioll be sad to see him leave but under no circumstances should he be allowed to go to Chelsea. I hate the money bags bar stewards!!!!! Come on United today!!!

Berbatov is an excellent individual. but has he helped improve us as a 'team'?

I'm firmly on the fence with that one.

I made exactly the same point in another thread and why we need more than 1 top class signing this summer!
Ramos has 2 seasons to get this club into the top 4 otherwise the likes of Modric will be approached by Champions league teams and - if our recent history is anything to go by -will leave!

he hasn't played a game yet! I like the optomism though!

I still have this odd feeling he will stay...

Is he going somewhere, then?

 well said ss57 -

have we had a definite statement from the club ?

have we had any statement from berbs ?

ok he has not made any response to dantchevs rantings and shop window tactics - as we all know berbs is a very private and a very deep man - even in private situations unless you directly engage him he very rarely acknowledges anything, not ignorance just a seemingly very shy bloke, he chooses not to speak to the press as he fears his english may not be strong enough (it is) and is always concerned that what he says will be changed around to fit the purpose of some interviewers, he is aware that some interviews he has had in bulgarian have not translated well into english and please take it as read, it does upset him very much.
an off topic snipet, its true that he thinks keano is the dogs b******s and in conversation hangs on his every word - he has not long become aware of the word tosser and finds it amusing and repeats it at every opportunity

ok he wants to play champions league, and we all shout well take us there then, he cant do it on his own
lets just wait and see what the window brings but those that want him to leave, i wouldnt be holding your breath

my daily rant over, i'm off to ground

I don't like the notion of our club being a mere stepping stone. Intellectually, I can concede that Spurs are not as big as we used to be and that there are clubs to play for that can achieve more prestigious awards. But a stepping stone is designed to be trodden on, and I don't like Spurs being trodden on.

I appreciate that view is based on love of the club, but in reality, if Spurs don't make the CL in a couple of years, I can see Modric doing exactly the same as Berbatov.

As harsh as it sounds, that is the way Football has become these days. The CL is the be all of everything, and all the top players want to showcase their skills there.

I hate it, but fact of Football life, I'm afraid.

Now you can say "stepping stone", but in both Berba's and Modric's cases, I'm sure both intended/fully intend to achieve CL QF with Spurs. However when/if they don't, I won't be surprised to see Modric leave, as Berbatov is planning to.

In the latest drivel:

Fergie says he needs another experienced striker. The Torygraph continues to destroy what little credibility it retains by interpreting this as a bid for Berba.

The Screws, however, reckons he wants Owen, and says Milan (AC, that is, not Mandaric) won't meet our £30m asking price. Chelsea and Barca will, says the Observer, although the Daily Diana claims the Russians have offered a take-it-or-leave-it £20m.

The Peephole says that Eto'o is the one Juande wants, and that we're seeking sponsorship from the Cameroon Tourist Board to help us out with his wages.

And for those who saw the Flying Lamp-post  as an ideal replacement for Berbs, tough titty. He's buying out the rest of his contract and heading for Villareal.

Thank Gawd for that! Cheers for the pucker round-up SS57!

Yep, that's about the size of it.

Indeed, even the Woolwich Wanderers aren't immune.

That was a truly fascinating post, thanks so much.

More please!

Seriously, I've seen the lighthearted Berba in Bulgarian TV interviews, and the notion that he never smiles and is constantly morose is such an unfortunate one. I do think he is contradictory though. He knows he speaks good English, I just think he would prefer to remain private whilst in England, as he's never out of the spotlight in Bulgaria. That's just my interpretation though.

STAY BERBA STAY.

If he stays after all this speculation of the last year, the teams that want him will have got others in and the media should shut up about berba for a while and then we can slip under the radar and get 4th spot!
