Well, Milan look to be chucking a fair bit of cash about, i think they've decided that 2009 will be their year for a return to the top and will have their name attached to every single top level star that's rumoured to be interested.

Lampard and Drogba will be linked again but it wouldn't surprise me if, after finalising any deal they're hammering out with Barca over Ronaldinho, they'll use that as a draw to tempt some other top names.

Milan, for my money, will be the biggest spenders when this season comes to a close.

I think we should just swap Berba for Ronaldinho & Puyol :-D

Seriously though, Berba cannot be allowed to go for any less that £25mil, that way we'd have doubled our money. He also absolutely would have to go abroad!!

Anyone who thinks players like Berbatov and Carrick 'grow on trees' are delusional!
We have'nt recovered from the loss of Carrick defensively or creatively and Berbatov holds us together in an attacking sense - all our best work there goes through him.
I think Levy will do his best not to sell him in the summer and if we keep him to his contract - will he really be focused enough to help the side progress?

Its OK we have Robbie Keane to drop deep and link up the play

Thanks for that 57 - so in the prem - Torres has 21+3 whereas Berbs has 14+9 -

now I would say Berbs has had had crucial roles in at least another 6 lge goals this season (for example yesterday - where presumably he didn't get an assist)- and looking at Torres assists I doubt he'll match that number of 'pre-assists- - so from that I would reckon Berbs has been more productive in the prem than Torres

to really test it we'd need to go through every goal scored by Spurs and pool this season - in all competitions

but anyway Berbs stats stand up well on the telegraph stats

Carrick has been Man U's most inform player besides Ronaldo and maybe Rio. He's world class in terms of form right now.

And Vidic.

And Evra.

And Rooney.

and Van Der Sar

So yeah, he is average.

(why wont I just let this go??)

He was brilliant today defense turned into attack in one quick, pin point pass.

Let it go P-L-P - we can get you through this.

Just my opinion PT. Unfortunately I cannot let go of my opinion. Could you imagine starting next season with "first touch" Benty and the golden boy up front.

My god, it doesn't bear thinking about.

Well some on COYS are hoping to see a return of a certain Seville player......:bs:

Well, if Fredi has a cheap release clause, I'm sure he'll let Don Juande know about it. Otherwise, no chance, as Del Nido would quote us a crazy transfer fee...

Yeah because world class players are everywhere aren't they?

What we can do is spend half of the proceeds on an average player ala Carrick - Zokora.

Top teams dont sell their top players.

we dont need to buy a world class player to be better off, afew cheap unknown quality players would be better, we got Berbatov on the cheap, there are other players like that out there

And we never will be if we keep taking the money ala Carrick.

We chased Berbatov for a year. Lets hope DC has a replacement he has been chasing like Arnescum did.

untill we buy a new midfield who will work for the ball and also be bale to create, we will never be a top team, only thing we are missing, but i cant see Berabtov staying about to see what happens, if he wants out then we take the highest price we can get, as simple as that

well seeing as we have scouts in place, and seeing how Berbatov has been linked away since even befor the start of the season, i think our scouts would have been out looking at replacments just incase we got a bid too good to turn down

We dont need the money Yid-ol, we can afford a top midfielder. The only thing that stops players coming to us is our stature. Which is something we wont build if we sell our top players.

we do need the money, we are well off, i will agree to that, but if we start letting players who want to leave run down there contracts more and then leaving for not alot, it will hit us at some point. When a player wants to leave and we get a good offer in, it would be stupid to reject it, not only for the amount we could end up losing, but when a player has his mind on another club he wont put in the performances we really need him to be doing

and it isnt really 1 midfielder we need, we need basicly a brand new midfield, and defender, and probably a keeper and keeper coach
