I'd like a stadium based on a futuristic reinterpretation of Beaumaris Castle on Anglesey. A real football fortress, with fuck-off laser arrays mounted on the corner towers. And visiting fans have to run the gauntlet of murder holes and boiling oil, plus our archers picking them off before they get anywhere near the turnstiles.
Sounds good - and maybe we could have the odd trebuchet or two for away games?!

Absolutement! And on every other aspect of their anatomy!

But in all seriousness, instead of the boring passé toilet-bowl design, why not have something based on a medieval castle? Towering stands on all four sides, four whopping corner towers, a massive gatehouse/barbican as the main entrance. And we could still have it all lit up as in the Allanz. Only better.

A couple of points. If this is indeed designs for our new stadium, then it is only a sketch proposal to determin massing. However, as an architect, I would say that these images would only be process drawings that probably wouldn't even be sent to the client (THFC) since they are not up to scratch. Take the text on the google earth image, that wouldnt be acceptable to be sent out (we are quite an anal bunch and that shit matters to us). It looks like a mock up from someone. Im pretty sure thats done in sketchup too, which is free to download, rather than a more professional application like 3DS max.

Also added to the fact that it looks as if it has been placed on top of the current WHL, which i believe is wrong anyway.

On another note, the pics of that dortmond stadium look crap, hope its nothing like that. Dont know when it was built, but looks very dated and borring.

[cynical]Re: the name, is it not entirely likely that we will sell our soul (naming rights) for a huge corporate sponsor?[/cynical]

The ENIC Stadium? The Mansion? Or whomever may be linked with a take-over in the future... which seems a whole lot more likely when our new home is on its way.

Since its prob on the same site(or next to) i assume it will remain white hart lane. really hope so. although as corporate stadium names go 'the mansion' is actually quite good.

The problem with the castle look is that wet spam have already done it and the way they've done it looks both pants and toilet.

Upton Park looks like it's made of Lego

Guys, those crying out for 60k - i'm not a massive baseball fan but back in the 80's it was the big thing. Teams were building new stadiums left right and centre, 100k+ seats, incredible structures - there was millions of dollars slopping about in the game.

Within about 10 years, the boom had gone and previously sold out grounds were only half filling. After another few years, it was clear they had some big problems and everyone started tearing down their huge stadiums and started building smaller ones, to preserve the atmosphere and maybe make a few bob on the land the old massive one stood on.

Considering the amount of land we have to play with in the area, i don't want to see us become a victim of any slump in investment that the game may suffer.

I'd like something really ugly. I want, industrial, utilitarian ugliness. People will arrive and straught away loath it. It will intimidate and inside I want the stands as steep and as close to the pitch as it's possible to be.

I think we'd all hate it at first, but in the end we'd love it.

Yet we managed to get tickets for Bolton.

Seriously mate... think before you type.

:eh:

There were still very few empty seats in the end for that game. I think it's more understandable that we wouldn't sell out these games because we've had nothing to play for since the Cup Final. There are always gonna be games that we're not gonna sell out, but that goes for every club in the world.

The team could be led onto the pitch by these guys, with a suitable fanfair:

That mock-up looks awful. Corporate seating splits the fans up and detracts from the atmosphere. I wrote an email to the club a few months ago about the stadium specifically explaining the fans' reservations about having corporate seating all around the park and they said it was an issue they had looked at very closely.

Sorry. I'll try harder next time.
