I reckon his worth a gamble based on a friendly game against Brasil Vs GB.

Can't really say I know much about him just hope his not another Paul Robinson and more Joe Hart .

he wouldn't be bought on the basis on tonight's game. was just adding tonight's game to the argument!

Is this kid ready? Or will he be ready by next season after a loan? Cus, that's what we'll need.

As much as i'd love him, I just cant see Levy spending 6m+ on a 19 year old goalkeeper thats only played in league 2 and a handful of england youth games.

bit disrespectful IMO. Robbo was a great keeper for us before his confidence got shot. He got to England's no.1 by right.

I don't really rate him too highly but the pole from up the road only had League One experience i believe before going into the prem nets. So its a fairly similar situation as he was highly rated but young and unexperienced.

He looked very good tonight but it's only one night, will be interesting to see him play a few games this tournament.

Butland is class, surely we've been scouting him..
We had scouts watching him at a number of Cheltenham games last season. As did many other clubs.

The kid has class.

As I said earlier in the thread though I can't see us signing both Butland and Lloris. That's a lot of money to outlay on 2 'keepers.

Robbo had a canny habit of being beaten most weeks from 30yds. He also perfected diving after the ball had past him. In addition, he never moved off his line.

on a positive. he could humped the ball down field quite well

Have to say I was impressed with his performance in yesterdays game. If he consistently plays like that then he will be right up there with Joe Hart and well worth a £7m bid.

It's the first time I've seen him play though and if as others have said above our scouts have watched him regularly then they should know more about him and his potential.

I've not watched Butland play for Cheltenham but i've watched him for years playing for England at various age levels. IMO he is better than Joe Hart was at a similar age by a considerable margin and this is no insult to Hart. I think he is ready for the premiership now (he has already been called into the England squad for the Euros) and would rather we bought him than Lloris. My reasoning is that Lloris is a comparative risk. He's more expensive, and is not guaranteed to settle or even suit the physicality of the premiership. If he flops we will struggle to get half of our money back. I think there's little chance that Butland will be a failure but assuming i'm wrong the fact that he is English will mean we'll recoup most of our money from some mid table premiership side.

I remember you from COYS, and if you say he's good that's good enough for me.

I mate of mine knows a journalist who was invited to the England camp at the Euro's.
They were allowed to watch the lads training, and he said Butland stood out amongst the keepers as a potential star.
He said they were working on catching crosses whipped into the box, and Butland was by far the most dominant at this, took everything.

think if we have problems with Loris and his asking price, then Butland would be a good alternative. would be a good understudy for Brad this season, and taking over the role next season.

would be good if we can get a structured deal for him, with add on stuff based on his first team and international appearances.

he has bags of potential... fingers crossed i guess.
