I haven't read through the posts on Jenas because I know the kind of things that will be written about him, I maintain he is the most unfairly treated Spurs player I have ever seen by Spurs fans.

I mean, week in week out he works his socks off, he runs runs and runs, he covers and gets stuck in and you'll never hear him moaning at all. This alone deserves the full support from every fan.

Today, he didn't have the best of games but his effort as ever was excellent and some of the abuse levelled at him from 'fans' near me was disgraceful.
Great he covers alot of ground..he's got a great engine as they say, but he doesn't bring much else too the table...I mean this guy is an England
international (Supposedly)..You just expect alot more from him, he doesn't impose himself in games enough the way a Gerrard or Barry would. Playing
in central midfield in the Prem is tough you need impose you will on your opposite number and as much as Jenas has certain good qualities i just feel that he hasn't taken his game too that higher level since he joined us...he's not a young kid with potential anymore like he was at Newcastle....I really do feel that it's time too cut our loses on him and fine a truly top class replacement....central midfield in the morden game is where matches are won and lost and it's an area that we have Spurs have always looked soft in.

thought bentley had that title in the bag, shocking performance.
:clap::clap::clap:

But Bentley does no wrong (even when he can't cross a bloody ball) weras Jenas can do no right, even when he kickstarts a revival against the Arse. Its amazing how JJ is so bad that he gets in every manager's England squad. Hell he has even fooled Capello! or maybe Capello knows a little more about footballers than the JJ knockers?

Yet another great performance by Lennon, who many folks wanted us to sell this summer.

I have said for the last few seasons, He always puts in a great performnce against the Arsenal, but the rest of the time looks pretty average.

Start with a midfield of any combination without JJ, and you will realise why we need him.

You succesfully singled out ONE game in the years JJ has been here.

Great success.

I didn't think he was too bad today.... although he was below what was expected of him. His surging runs down the middle with a bit of space are always exciting, although today he got caught in possession. In past weeks hes scored himself or set someone else up.

I thought I was in a minority of one there.
Yes, I also thought he had an OK game today, lots of quiet hard work, and in the absence of Stevie G or a young Viera, who would you rather have there people; Zokora, Tainio, Ghally or The Prince?

Yeah he's really quite bad in the Blackburn game...n quite a few others too. The weird thing is why can't ANY of his managers see it? Why are Spurs fans the only ones to see how shitty he really is?

But then maybe that's why we're just fans and they're the ones managing clubs and national teams.

We have won games this season without Jenas, he and Bentley are enigmas but no worse than the rest of our midfield personnel.

Simply maths really, if we can attract a better player than JJ, then he's off with my blessing.

despite being the most frustrating footballer ive ever seen as he clearly has the tools to be a good player, Jenas is a needed member of the squad...

He provides a constant work engine on the pitch who can run on to balls in the 89th minute when others are seemingly to tired to consider it an option...

He was dreadful against blackburn, and there is no denying it, but lets face it if it comes down to him or zokora in there with huddlestone i know who gets my vote no matter what form they are in

imo he's an average Prem midfielder & I think Huddlestone's going to become the senior & pivotal figure in our midfield before long. He seemed to overshadow him yesterday massively.
With Harry showing faith in him & giving him a run of starts, you can see his confidence rising.
As an aside £15m for Bentley really is starting to look a huge amount of money, which was always my concern when we bought him.

I think the two of them COULD come good. I know Jenas has it in him, we've all seen it...just over the last few weeks he has annoyed me more and more. His touch CAN be awful, his passes seem never to go to our player (compare him to hud yesterday)...just seems a bit of a liability. But yes, he can run all day so props to him for that

There's a big difference between sub-par and dreadful.

He reminded me of Zokora yesterday actually. He had a big responsibility to play more defensive, with Huddlestone actually pressing a bit further upfield. He gave the ball away cheaply on several occasions, made some bursting runs which led nowhere, but he did his job defensively. I think Huddlestone is really starting to show consistency in his game now, and it will be either Zokora or Jenas to partner him in the middle. Hopefully in the long run we can get a Viera type (sorry to use him as an example, but he's exactly the type of player we need) to play alongside Huddlestone. Someone with the energy and pace of Zokora and Jenas, but the discipline to protect the back four and not give away cheap free-kicks, and to be comfortable in possession.

Jenas had a decent game yesterday, didn’t show a great deal of quality on the ball but not too many players did. Don’t know why JJ gets so much stick, he is a vital member of our first team at the moment. I think his main problem is that his role hasn’t been defined enough, something which over time I think Harry can sort out. We’re already seeing him taking on a bit more of a defensive role. Breaking forward when necessary. His passing range isn’t excellent and sometimes it’s a bit negative but I rather he plays safe (generally he has been doing this) and leave the defense splitting passes to the Hudd.

Jenas didnt do too badly at all. He dribbled into the box, tackled well at times and his passing was ok.

I'm just amazed that you can start a thread about Jenas when Bentley was so, so, so terrible today.

I agree Bentely was bad but Jenas was awful, when was the last time he passed to a white shirt - oh Fulham last week:oops:

Jenas has been here a few years and apart from a couple of goals against the goons and a really good game against Derby he has been awful on the whole.

Jenas is a vital member of our current midfield. He works extremely hard, puts in some good tackles and provides important assists as well as goals. The fact is we are a more effective as a team when he plays.

Yesterday he did make more than his fair share of errors, but in his favour, he did offer himself consistently and was a vital cog for us both winning and keeping possesions.

Huddlestone on the other hand was wonderful while in possession, but nigh on useless (especially toward the end of the game) when Blackburn had the ball. He went missing.

Our back four and Lennon had a very good game yesterday while the midfield, apart from Lennon, had some poor moments, in particular in defending against the long ball game Blackburn played throughout.

I still see a fit Jenas as the first midfield player on the team sheet because of his work rate and versatility and I am sure that Rednapp will persist with him. With a fit Modric playing just off Bent, I hope we see a midfield 4 of Jenas, Huddlestone, Bentley and Lennon.

He reminded me of Zokora yesterday actually.

I confess, I did for a very brief moment have the very same thought when Jenas did the old Zokora routine of running half the length of the pitch and then lamely giving the opposition possession. IMO Jenas is however a far superior player to Zokora.

I would prefer a Carrick to a Viera (they are/were both superb holding midfielders). Unfortunately they have few peers and those that exist are unlikely to be coming to WHL until we can consistently offer CL games, and we won't be consistenly playing CL games until we have a Carrick or Viera. Let's hope Levy/Rednapp can find a way out of this dilemma.
