Watching Defoe play as a lone striker makes me want to punch myself in the throat. However, he's given us enough years and enough goals that he deserves the chance to choose what he wants to do. He has a fairly good chance of making the world cup squad given the lack of options in the England squad and can decide whether he is better off securing that by playing cup and sub games for us or 30+ games in the Championship (where he would run riot IMO).

Hes an awesome weapon off the bench and a flat track bully for the minnows. Hope he stays unless a silly offer comes in

Rumour that Defoe was spotted having lunch with Big Sam at Canary Wharf. Not sure if it's rubbish or not.

Apparently it was dinner last night at Roka.

If it happened I'm surprised the Mirror didn't report it as there must have been someone who saw JD or fat Sam

The source isn't any good but heres what ESPN has to say:
QPR are confident of landing Spurs striker Jermain Defoe. The Daily Star claim the R's have given up on Estudiantes' Duvan Zapata and are instead focussing their attention on the England striker.

Some fans complain we have no strikers in January and then want to sell strikers so we have no cover should Soldado get injured.

Alan Brazil saw JD & Sam and tweeted it.

Alan Brazil was probably onto his 3rd or 4th bottle of wine by then so I wouldn't take much notice of what he says.

We need 3 genuine strikers in the squad so I don't want us to sell any. We've enough on our plate trying to sign a LB, creative player and probably a Bale replacement, all in the space of 2 weeks.

Don't forget a centre-back as well
