seriously can the jj lovers explain why he is our best midfielder ?
he has terrible technique , not a patch on modric or hudd
he cant tackle , slows down our counter attacks cos his control is so poor and his vision is even worse, he cant pass forward .... he goes sideways more than samways !
has a great engine , can run around all day , usually no where near the ball
offers zero cover to the defence !
has serious lapses in concentration ( see todays goal )

the guy has had so many chances and apart from 3 or 4 good games against arsenal , he has been a complete waste of time. quite simply its time to ship him out and get someone with heart to play in the middle
i love tottenham hotspur but it kills me to see someone like this playing for my beloved club , i pay my money and watch them week in week out for years now and i have never disliked a player more than jenas , it baffles me how he is rated so highly ,
he needs to be replaced permanantly and i believe harry will do it soon !
hopefully appiah will be the answer

Gin I would try to explain what my thoughts on Jenas are by taking each of your points in order.
he has terrible technique (No he doesn't) not a patch on modric or hudd
he cant tackle , (Yes he can and does) slows down our counter attacks cos his control is so poor ( No he doesn't) and his vision is even worse, ( No it isn't) he cant pass forward (Yes he can and does).... he goes sideways more than samways ! (No he doesn't)
has a great engine , can run around all day , usually no where near the ball (and yet he is more often than not involved where the ball is)
offers zero cover to the defence ! (and yet he makes more last man saving tackles when opponents break on us than any other midfielder)
has serious lapses in concentration (Does He? nobody has been able to pinpoint this to me at any time)

I am not going to get into comparisons with other midfielders because I don't want to run anyone down but if Hudd, Modric or, God forbid, Zokora had scored that goal against arsenal people would still be creaming themselves, because it was Jenas, who also laid on the ball to Bentley, it is quietly ignored by the people who won't admit they are wrong.

It seems to me that he does everything a midfielder ought to do terrifically, but he doesn't do any one thing fantastically and that is the problem; people want eye candy!

Worcester sauce, can you back that up with examples?

He's turd. No example needed...

He may not be Steven Gerrard - but we are a noticeably poorer side without him.

So what does that say about the rest of them? I think everyone's realised he's not a world-beater by now, and accepted that. But that doesn't stop him being a very good player. He flatters to deceive on occasion, and yes makes mistakes as many tend to do. However, he's a lot more reliable and actually contributes to the team generally with goals and assists.

I think the frustrating thing about him is that we know he can be this dominant boss of a game - he's done it, and in some high profile games recently - but he does go missing. So we have to find a way of getting 10 out of 10 Jenas each time, not 5 and 6 out of 10.

But yes, if we have to apportion blame, then yes, it was his man today.

Turd isn't right. Especially if you then have to put Zokora on that scale.

Just on the goal we conceded today, was the major factor,Jenas losing his man or the pinpoint accuracy of the cross?
John Terry allowed Vidic in for Uniteds 1st,is he a useless player, not good enough for us or a top 4 player?

If JJ concentrates, then the guy doesn't get a clear sight of the ball, let alone goal. Technically a fine player, potentially a brilliant player, consistently and actually and inconsistent enigma...it's a shame...

ok I've watched the goal again about 10 times - jj does miss the header, but it's a tremendous cross well inside the six yard box and a fit gomes would surely have gone for it

no way is it just JJ's fault -

watch it for the 11th time and you will see he pushed the goal scorer into the line of the ball insted of getting infront of him :bang:

still cant believe some of the people on here that stand up for him
we are all entitled to our opinion but seriously some of you must be teletext fans and not see this mug play live week in week out.

Well, I'll stand up for him with a degree of qualification. But it wasn't just his sloppiness for the goal today—he was poor full-stop. Not as poor as Zokora, maybe, but poor. Blaming Gomes' injury for the goal is, sorry, nonsensical. Heskey very cleverly, and near illegally, blocked him off.

JJ is really a hit/miss case. Lets be clear, the Bar codes had provided a good account of him. I really do not know which one is goingb to turn up .... We should save him for the Arsenal game ....

he is the poor mans Guti isnt he, I can see him running about aimlessly for 90 minutes, the odd good tackle the odd booking and maybe a trick or two, but mainly just running around aimlessly.

I want him to finish from 3 yards out and not fall over and scuff the ball like a school boy, I want him to have performed better with freekicks and corners thus elminating the need for buying Bentley, I want him to grow a pair and dominate a game of football more than 1 in 6 or whatever.

If we got some millions for Jenas, and could find a decent replacement, I would let him go.

The thing is if Jenas is allowed to leave he will probably go somewhere like Villa, where he would be a definite trade up on Petrov, and be really successful.

Don't think this is true at all. Villa already have a team full of great athletes. But Petrov is a thinking footballer. He is far superior to JJ in being creative. Has much better passing range and vision.

JJ's problem, for me, is that he isn't great at anything apart from running a lot. Not that he can't do a job for us mind because we don't have a lot of talent in midfield. Modric i believe is a class player but he's struggling at the moment in this team.
