We'll sell him in the summer and he will be playing for Milan within three years.

Another Sonny Pike? Overhyped because he was an English schoolboy who actually had a bit of technique.

If he's struggling to make any impression in the lower leagues then there's really no hope for him.

Making an impression playing for Hull City, one of the most boring long ball teams I have ever seen? If a player is a midfielder and has "a bit of technique" Hull City is the last team where such player should be.

that's bullshit.if you're a good player it doesn't matter what team you play for. You should have the intelligence to adapt your game and still be influential. Jay jay okotcha played for bolton under big sam and still looked like one of the most technically gifted players in the prem.

Interesting article and IMHO shows where we've let ourselves and Bostock down. Does he have a future at WHL, heaven knows, but should he decide to put in the work on the training field and not be just another "David Bentley" fancy dan type then hopefully he does have a future with us.
'Arry made it very clear that he sends these youngsters out to toughen them up, show them the basics and that it's not all about fat pay packets or luxury cars and only those that really knuckle down will survive.
Who really knows what goes on in Bostock's head ?

TBH the article is lot of supposition and conjecture with the writer not really knowing why Bostock's development stalled.

By all accounts the kid is dedicated, and has a settled private life - religious, about to marry his childhood sweetheart - but there are many reasons why a kid with talent doesn't go on to become a superstar.

Maybe that's part of the problem as he's too settled and too happy with his lot.
I don't say it's a bad thing to be happy, religeous and to marry your childhood sweetheart in fact it's a good thing but maybe a footballer needs to be all these things and still want more.

I still think he can be a premierhip footballer but maybe not to our standard, we shall see.

Sorry mate - thats bullshit. Yeah Okocha did play well for Bolton but there are many examples of players who didnt play well at other clubs because they didnt settle/didnt suit the style of play etc. Diego Forlan springs to mind as does Kleberson, the world cup winner who didnt get to grips life at Man Utd. Juan Veron is another example - there are many many more as well.........

Married at 18, to me that's foolish. :hump:

My boss is a Tigers ST holder and saw Bostock first hand from the first appearance when he scored a Hollywood goal to subsequent intermittent matches where he would flit in and out of games and generally go missing at crucial stages.

He is the first to admit that Hull City in a downward spiral as they nudged relegation positions was not the rich learning arena that Redknapp would have had in mind for Bostock but Hull City sent him back to Spurs so clearly didn't think he could influence the subsequent rise up the table to eighth.

He's deeply religious, which is foolish anyway, but he clearly wants to get his end away and that's the only way.

Bostock needed to go to Brentford and Hull and pull up trees. He banged in two awesome goals for Hull, but by all accounts his performances were below par.

Harry always speaks of his kids like Defoe, Lampard, Carrick and Ferdinand and how successful all their loans were. You need to have good reports from your time in lower leagues. Look at the reports Caulker, Mpoku, Mason, Rose, Walker and Naughton have been receiving... that's what you want.

He also scored a wonder goal in one tournament for England U21s not so long ago, but aside from this great volleyed goal he looked pretty useless the rest of the time.

I doubt we will see him in a spurs shirt now, as said before anyone hoping to break into our team needs to really look consistently outstanding on their respective loans (he has not)

Good luck to him, he is talented no doubt and he clearly has potential, maybe desire is his issue or maybe he just needs to learn a few fundamentals to complement his natural ability

What Dan said.

Not what Dan said...

He is only 18; cut the lad a bit of slack.

...this.

It is only five minutes ago certain folk on here :)think: who will be honest enough to admit to it:shrug:...Dan were you one of them?), wanted to get shot of 'Jonah' Bale.

He hasn't progressed as we would have liked, and he has 'allegedly' developed a bitof an attitude problem. But IMHO at least part of that stems form the fact that Ramos/Comolli, when they first brought him to the Lane, stated publicly that they were looking at first team integration 'sooner rather than later'. I'm sure moving from a relatively cosy environment at Palace and almost guaranteed first team football for the foreseeable to wandering the lonely corridors of WHL, feeling totally unwanted (and possibly unremembered) has had an effect on his psychology.

That said, I still harbour hopes for the lad...and think it is foolish in the extreme to write him off at this young age.

Also, at Hull he was up against a similar style of player in Tom Cairney who had made 10+ appearances in the PL & who could hit a screamer as well. Difference is, he'd been at Hull since he was 16 & got his 'bad attitude' out of the way as a kid at Leeds & matured once he had settled in at Hull.

Its hard to say whether Bostock will also mature & turn his undoubted potential into a top drawer player, I hope so but he'll need to man up & earn his place, especially considering our current options in midfield.
