Just been on Talksport defending himself only caught the end of it but it seemed like he was trying to limit the damage given his reputation.

He is such a prick and really shouldn't be allowed to use twitter either.

Moments after his Twitter statement, Barton published a tweet he later deleted reading: "Apologising doesn't always mean that you're wrong and the other person is right. It means you value your relationship more than your ego."

Like this gem of his that the pussy then deleted.

That's very true though, I apologise to the wife all the time just to keep the peace when she is the one clearly in the wrong, life just easier that way

Not arguing with your point but I have to say that he is way more interesting than a lot of football players with their dull as dishwater interviews that tell you very little. Ironically I think that a lot of football players say little outside of the usual clichés for fear of dropping themselves in it whereas he doesn't seem to give a toss.

This may be very cynical but he's got a book being published next week. Publicity stunt of some sort?

Not long enough. However I'm hoping at his age he'll just retire and disappear into nothingness.

He bet on newcastle to lose whilst he was their player but didn't play in those matches

I'm sure with those winnings he can afford to retire early
