PSG are already having to sell players like Aurier because of FFP.

If they sign Mbappe for another outrageous fee, I don't see how they can blow 13 million Euros or something similar on Foyth.

So, our existing offer may prove to be the best on the table, with the player clearly wanting to play for Poch.
This Foyth deal is so small to be in the real consideration for their FFP manipulations.

Hold on, if I am understanding this correctly, I think this is back on.

You're understanding correctly.

To quote it slightly less literally... "Tottenham progress with Foyth. The most interested. His economic and sporting offering are unbeatable. Juan Sebastian Veron will decide in a few hours from China"..?

Disclaimer: my mate who speaks more Spanish than me helped me with this translation, so if it's wrong then he can fuck himself.

This was just tweeted:

#EDLP Tottenham iguala la oferta del PSG y se queda con Foyth. A igualdad de ofertas, el jugador elige Inglaterra. Define Verón desde China.

Which translates as:

#EDLP Tottenham match PSG's offer and maintain interest with Foyth. With equal offers, the player chooses England. Define Veron from China.

Don't let Levy drive. Poch has gotten him drunk.

So, if we sign Foyth, we will effectively have 6 CBs (Dier, Foyth, Jan, Toby, Sanchez and CCV). Granted, Foyth/Dier can play in midfield. Wimmer's obviously on his way out in this scenario. I personally would love it, even with Sanchez. CCV would hopefully be a loan candidate. He needs time (a lot of time).

I'd be slightly worried if I was CCV.

Perhaps Poch is hoping to cause this response. CCV needs to make the next step (against players his own age he is terrific, but against the big boys he has a lot to learn). Maybe the best way to get him to do that is to bring in real competition.

Same here, where do you ever see your opportunity coming from? Foyth and Sanchez are young stars (Sanchez more so, obviously). I'm curious about Toby's situation in all of this, personally. Is this us trying to lessen the blow should he leave sooner than we all hope? Also, maybe Foyth is seen as the successor to Dier?

Liked the look of this kid but thought he was too raw to replace Wimmer.

With Sanchez coming in it means Foyth won't need to step up as quickly.

Would be very happy getting him.

I think it does two things: (1) it makes us better and more likely to win something (helping in the cause to keep Toby); and (2) it will give us some semblance of cover if Toby does leave.

I doubt we changed our offer. I think it's still the same one as before, and that the PSG offer never existed

That's an awful lot of misreporting to be the case. I hope it is, because it means we don't think we're overpaying. And it is another reason why no one should play poker with Daniel Levy.

I don't believe anything on this story anymore. Bullshit everyone. Honestly wouldn't be surprised if they have panicked seeing the Sanchez deal and desperately want our offer back on the table. They seem beyond desperate.

I don't think it's misreporting. It was deliberate.
The news about PSG always originated from Argentina. Whenever the french press talked about it, they quoted the media in Argentina. And the fact that the deal was never closed, that the PSG offer appeared just after they rejected ours. It all makes me think it never existed

I am not sure I buy this narrative. Then again the "lack of playing time at PSG" when he would be their 4th choice CB versus our 5th/6th (vs. CCV) makes no sense either. The whole story around this club is wonky. It seems like they are finally going to sell Ascacibar as well after having already 'nearly sold' him to several other clubs around Europe.
