There’s certainly not many HG options who play abroad that would be good additions. I still can’t see it tho, price, BVB’s unwillingness to sell and not a forward and that’s who we seem to be targeting. Still, I can’t think of many others who we could be looking at, Tomori maybe would be the other guess.

There definately arent many of desired quality.
Tomori, Madueke, mavididi and Edwards are really the only ones I can think of in positions we may be looking at

Yeah theres very few decent options.... Madueke, bellingham, tomori, abraham, rreece oxford (not sure if he's developed) are about the only realistic remotely talented players in Europe who are english.

Jamal Musiala is the only other one I can think of. Although is he German association trained? Great player but probably another for the pipe dream list like Bellingham, sadly.
zero chance we could afford musiala really, he's literally tearing it up there and I doubt hell want to leave for england as he plays for Germany now and seems happier in Germany.

Might be being thick here, but do they have to be English, as long as they were developed here?

Almost certainly it's Madueke who we've been linked to previously and can play out on the right flank to cover Kulusevski so filling a current need.

I suspect much will depend on whether PSV qualify for the group stage of the CL but out of the overseas HG options (discounting Bellingham) then this makes the most sense.

No they dont, you are right. Makes it more open as if they spent 3 years from age 17-21 then that is more key as that's why dier doesn't count if I'm not mistaken, even though he's English?

After having a quick scroll through all homegrown players abroad.. (edit: apparently I was only looking at English players abroad)

Tomori and Bellingham are the only two homegrown players abroad that would ‘excite’ me as they are the only two who I feel would genuinely improve our squad and options.

Other players like Edwards and Madeuke would just be to make up numbers.

JB would make sense, the problem is, even if we could do a deal, Liverpool would jump straight in and gazump us as they did with Diaz. No way they let him come to us.

Wouldn't be surprised if Chelsea made a move too.

It's difficult to think of other foreign based HG options though.

Tomori just signed a new contract hasn't he.

My mind automatically went to Tomori, given that we've been talking to Milan about Tanganga. No idea about his contract situation though

I think you are right about JB, just too many big clubs would jump in if he became available. I imagine even utd and Citeh would bid as he's pretty much setting up someone's CM for the next 8+ years minimum.

In terms of players abroad, of the top of my head there is:

Tomori
Edwards
Madueke
Abraham
Smalling ?

Not sure who else would be on that list but any of them bar Smalling definitely adds something to our squad.

Maybe Bynoe Gittens at Dortmund too - a lot of potential

Edit; and... just signed a new 5 year deal

yeah but I guess the only benefit with him being so young is he could come to us for 4 years, where he would have less pressure and can still develop massively under conte and then move at 22 to whichever club he wants with a year left. he definitely has 3 moves left at least in his career. He could even sign a buy-out clause contract with us etc for 4 years time so he knows hell get the move.
I think it is a pipe dream, but we could pay him big wages and he can be around the england captain etc.
I don't think it would ever happen, but it very much depends on whos advising him and how he sees his career. Very good players have taken the big move too early and their career has stalled as a result.

Supposedly he’s valued at over a £100 mil
by BVB this window. And according to the Athetic RM want him next summer. I really don’t see him being the player mentioned by trix.

I can’t help but feel we have managed our squad badly if we are scrabbling around for players based on one parameter at this stage...

Edit - I should have specified the homegrown aspect of our squad, especially given the seemingly burnt bridges with Tanganga and Winks (obviously his doing), rather than our squad as a whole..

I think we have, to be honest part of my issue with the likes of davies and dier is they don't count as HG.
