Forgot Chelsea also have Malang Sarr as a CB. Signed him on a free last summer and loaned him to Porto straight away.

It was more like a show of ambition and intention. It would have been an amazing coup. Wouldn’t see anything like this under Levy’s negotiations.
Why does everything have to be turned into an attack on Levy?

Did we not get very close to signing de Jong, by his own words, which would have been very ambitious?
Also, going for the likes of Gio and Tanguy was pretty ambitious.

To be fair, Levy has always been pretty ambitious, just that things don't always work out.

Had this post in my mind the whole time we were linked, so didn’t get too excited …

Not really sure why we pursued a deal for so long, to be honest. That has been the message from the first time I asked my contact. He has repeated the same thing every time: "no chance". And, believe me, I have asked him enough times.

But we want names! (we being me who didnt read last few pages...)

He could still feasibly end up in Spain - but we may have to wait to see how the transfer merry go round falls. There could be moves for people like Niguez and Pau T that bolster Atleti and Villareal’s coffers.

(slightly informed opinion)

Never really thought we’d sign him, but the fact Chelsea have make it all the more annoying.

One less suitor for Sanchez is the final kick in the bollocks

I don't see why everyone is getting their knickers in a twist over the chavs entering the fray.

JK said he wants to be at a CL club.
We are not a CL club.
chavs are in the CL.
He's also expensive as fuck.

Jesus H Christ will people lighten up on the Sanchez business. Sanchez to Sevilla was important only if it brought Kounde the other way, it didn't so we'll dump them and move on to one of the other interested parties. Maybe we can pick up a striker or two in exchange.
I am also comfortable in the knowledge that Coco will crock Zouma in training ?

Always thought this was a massive long shot. Never a great sign if the player's initial reaction is to reject the club and then we have to desperately persuade them to come.

I'll be gutted if we don't get Romero, though, as he actually wants to join us.

Kounde wanted a UCL club. We agreed a deal with Sevilla. It was solely down to the player. Paratici and the club couldn't do anymore than they did. This one deal shouldn't be turned into an attack on the club and its supposed lack of ambiton/spending.

Personally, I’m not particularly upset although I admit I’ve not seen much of him.
He’s short for a CB, thinks he’s Galactico material but gets kept out of the French national team by Lenglet. He’s also twenty million more expensive than any other linked CB — Romero aside (and I’m assuming or hoping that we’ll get him).
Wondering if anyone who has seen more of Kounde than I have thinks he might end up in another position? Kante type DM or RB?

What? They each started 1 game at the Euros. He’s kept out by Kimpembe and Varane. Hardly a duo to beat him down with
