We're gonna sell Kaboul and keep Dawson and go in to the season with Dawson, Vlad, Mussachio Verts, Dier and Fryers? No thank you. Keep Kaboul and get rid of Dawson already. No reason he is stjll here. Loyalty my ass. At this point, its selfishness. He's not wanted and refuses to leave. Holding us back.

Can't say I agree with you. IF we are selling Kaboul then it will be because we don't see him being a long term option for us. Either due to performance capability or fitness. It looks likely that this Argentinian lad is on his way and we have a top cb in verts. That will be our number one pair. Backing them up are a 24 year old international captain and one of the most talked about u21 players. Having Dawson there as a homegrown compliment that does have vast experience is not a bad thing and is in no way holding us back as you say, as he will not be the first choice. At the end of the day we need to move on any non homegrowns if we are to bring in more so with the new cb on his way we have to realistically get rid of either Kaboul, verts or chiriches. Of the 3 (despite him being my favourite) Kaboul going makes the most sense given age and injury record. Let's just trust the pros at the club are privy to more info than us and best positioned to make the right calls for the club

If we're on the point of moving on Kaboul (for what seems like peanuts) then I trust the Club will monitor how well he does at his new club. If he plays injury-free then I think management need to look very closely at the advice they're getting from the Club physios...

Vertonghen, Musacchio, Kaboul and Chiriches is the perfect mix for me. I'd loan out Fryers and Veljkovic. Sell Dawson. Dier I'd keep for the first half of the season to let him settle in, and in case of a CB emergency. In January I'd re-evaluate our options. If Kaboul/Chririches have stayed fit then I'd loan Dier out.

If Kaboul/Chiriches aren't fully fit, I'd possibly look to sell Kaboul in January, and depending on Dier's performances as a 5th choice CB, maybe bring in another experienced CB.

People keep going on about selling Dawson, we bloody would if we could! Hull were the only interested party and apparently Dawson wasn't interested. We can't sack him. He has a contract. It is 100% up to Dawson whether he goes or not. Nothing the club can do about it apart from stick him in the reserves. So until someone comes in and offers Dawson good money to go and it suits him, we'll have to get used to the fact he's going to stay whether we like it or not.

Kaboul on the other hand probably wants to play football (unlike Dawson) and will move on. The club wouldn't sell Kaboul over Dawson if they had a choice.

I would sell Kaboul before Dawson. Overated and casual. Dawson only really fails against nippy forwards and there aren't many in the EPL. Nine clean sheets in the 1st 11 games last term.
Let's hope YK does not fail the medical. I would take the reported £4.8 mill.

A "like" for you not because I'm happy to see this, but because I think your post is well-reasoned objective thinking. Good stuff.

Until anyone leaves the club I'm not going to get worked up. I would prefer Dawson to go first but he's right to wait until he gets the best offer possible. How many times have we seen things saying Lamela going on loan or getting sold? Doesn't mean its going to happen.

How do you figure that Dawson doesn't want to play?

If we're signing Musacchio neither Kaboul nor Dawson is going to be a first choice. People also seem to be in denial about just how poor Kaboul was last season, too.

This is Kaboul's first full pre-season in a while, played 90 at the weekend and seems to have no ill effects from his injury. A fully fit Kaboul is a HUGE asset.

We wouldn't sell a preferred CB option just because another won't leave. We'll only sell players that the management are happy to let go.

If Musacchio, Verts, Kaboul and Vlad were our preferred quartet with Dier as back up, I'd imagine the club would make it clear to Daws that he won't make the 25 man squad.

In such a situation, I'm sure Daws would get his agent on the case. I like (a fit) Kaboul, but we'll only sell if he's not in Pochs plans.

Hopefully we get some ITK on this at soon. I wouldn't like to see the big guy leave personally. I think he's definitely worth keeping in the squad as back up.

Give me the loyal Daws who would die for the club over the overrated, injury prone, can't concentrate for ten seconds, all pally with the other team Kaboul.

I know it's an unpopular opinion but I would let kaboul leave.

He's never had the concentration levels needed to be a permanent cb. He needs to be continually told where to be.

In the past he has been able to rely on his agility and speed to get back in position most of the time. But due to injury and age that has mostly gone.

He lets people wonder and make runs off of him far too much. Against Southampton, I believe it was jrod ran across the front of him while a long ball was coming in and he left him and he scored. Another example would be benfica where he let his marked man walk off of him to score twice.

Next to a player like king or Dawson he has someone in his ear constantly telling him what's going on. We need that to be instinctual.

As a dm we can use his power far more and are burned far less by people slipping past him. On the high line far to often he will walk up too early while leavin his man to remain inside running into the space behind him.

Thanks for your service big man, but we need our back four to work as an instinctual unit and Unfortunatley that is not your forte.
