Wimmer is better than Veltman and Ginter. Damn shame this one. But Poch wasn't even playing him when Vert was out last season. He deserves to play every week.

I like him but next season is a World Cup season and I can see him wanting to play more for this reason alone.
He did great the first time he covered for Verts, but was not so great last season.
CCv although untested could be more in our plans next season.
If he stays, trains and fights for his place fantastic, but I wouldn't begrudge him a move for more playing time.
an odd one really, he did do great but he was hardly given a chance last season, then from nowhere thrown in against the scum then hardly played again

That is seriously one of the most twisted views I've ever read on here about a Spurs defender. He is like a Lewis Holtby of the defence. Bought cheaply mainly as a trade for future profit, not necessarily to become a household name for Spurs, and beloved by some funs for fuck-all of a reason.

I think Wimmer is a cracking CB that should be highly sought after by PL clubs.

My only concern with him when it comes to staying with us, is his ability to step in on a short term basis. There have been odd games when he has stepped in and played exceptionally well but there have been games where he looked rusty and had a stinker.

Consistent playing time and he's a beast of a CB.

Twisted? Jesus. So he doesn't deserve to leave us and start somewhere every week?

I fail to see how there is anything even remotely controversial about my statement.

He was immense 2 seasons ago when stepping in after Verts got injured. Think he just struggles in a back 3 though so wasn't as effective last season. Poch obviously saw that and consequently didn't feature as much.

I quite like him as a squad player, but can understand if he wants to move on and play regularly.

The main weakness I saw last season was that he was pretty uncomfortable when he had to step out to cover in wide areas. But I guess most CBs will stand out like sore thumbs in that regard when compared to Alderweireld, Dier and Vertonghen in that phase of the game.

It was interesting to note that he was on the bench against Ireland last week. Might have some bearing on it as I'd imagine that a Wimmer thats playing every week would likely be their best defender outside of Alaba

unless he's asking for it and I dont know why we'd sell him. I think he's done a fine job for us when asked.

We will never get 15m for him, given he has rarely played. 8 or 10m may be more likely amount from any PL team.

He was great when Jan got injured but when he played last season he wasn't nearly as good.

That's mostly down to not have regular game time but with how good our defense is what can we do?

No need to be sentimental. He's a loyal squad member, but his chances of nailing a regular first team spot are slim.
At his age he needs to play regularly, so I'd have no problem with him seeking a move elsewhere. And if the price is right, then he goes, with our best wishes for the future.

He played nearly half a season 2 years ago, and made a game saving tackle against the scum at the lane. That's more than Holtby ever contributed.

At 24 he's shown that he has the talent to be a regular starter at any midtable team.

Question is if he makes a permanent move. Or if Poch sees enough value in him in the long run to just send him out on loan?
