On the positive according to his agent Poch still sees a spurs player in him and is expecting to see him get more play time in the coming season(s).

I'm a big fan of Wimmer, he was very good against Arsenal last season at the Emirates.

I hope he stays, however I would understand if he was to leave.

It really doesn't matter how good we think he is if Poch wont play him. Its how Poch rates him that counts.

We should loan him for next season and decide after the world cup. Probably get a decent loan fee for him

he only got to play sporadically last season, you can't build form without playing regularly.

look at Davies when Rose was first injured vs Davies by the end of the season, difference was night and day.

For me the fact he can't even get in Austria starting line up is pretty telling for me.They aren't exactly the strongest outfit.tgere were plenty of chances to start him last year ,yet poch chose another option. And Ccv was even preferred at times on bench .For me he always looks a bit tubby, might just be his build. But ideally we should be looking for a young successor to jan, just don't think wimmer is up to it .

And Lacazette couldn't get into the France squad over Giroud and Gignac last summer. Would you not take him?

The season before, when Wimmer was just as 'tubby', Vertonghen was, IMO, very lucky to get back in the first team, and our defending suffered as a result. When he got a run of games, Wimmer was excellent for us. He also looked OK in the middle of the back 3, but not so good on the left. I'll be disappointed if he goes.

You can't exactly compare France with Austria can you ?

It is a fair comparison. Lacazette is considered to be significantly better than Giroud but doesn't get picked for France.

Wimmer played pretty well for us in the season before so I think he is more than capable.

If he'd play at Spurs, he'd play for Austria - goes hand in hand. Wimmer is not as good as he could be due to his lack of game time. That said Austria isn't that bad at central defence with Aleksandar Dragovic, bundesliga player Martin Hinteregger and Sebastian Prödl who had a good Premier League season last year.
CCV got on the bench a couple of times ahead of Wimmer, could be down to form or other stuff. However, when there was game time to be given Poch always went with Wimmer.

Besides, what's up with "even" CCV? ;)

You also need to show you deserve to keep your place when you get the chance. Wimmer failed so bad when he got his, he was subbed out then subsequently dropped. He was also poor in the cup games. Dier was preferred at LCB over Wimmer when Jan was out and we moved to a back 4. Not to mention, Poch also preferred CCV to him on the bench the first 2 months of the season and many games after even though Dier was in the XI if Toby went down.

no but an International manager is more likely going to pick a player that's been playing regular for his team compared to one that struggled in a back 3, but wasn't given the chance when we went to a back 4.
