Will be like a new signing when he gets back. Hopefully his recovery is successful.

I just think of some of our previous games like West Ham away and the Chelsea semifinal and how instrumental he could've been.

A mate of mine had some kind of pelvic injury and it ended him as far as football was concerned. I know there's a big difference between man in the street and pro athlete, but actually in my experience the NHS are usually pretty good at fixing stuff that can be fixed.

So, to recap...

Lamela underwent an operation on his left hip, followed by a second on his right. The good news is that this shouldn't lengthen his recovery period, but should ensure that he'll be back next season.

Or, to summarise even further...

Hip. Hip. Hooray.

Anyone seen the pic of Lamela on crutches, witch was after being pictured doing exercises and bike riding last week?
Is it normal to be back on crutches after being able to exercise like that? Or rather should I say, does anyone have pics of him during said exercises with crutches in the background somewhere?

It's possible that in his condition he's still needing support but it strikes me as odd, unless the surgery was more serious than we realized maybe?

Way too many variables to make any type of comparison between Lamela and your friend

Hip. Hip. Hooray.

There is a strange irony with all these stories about his hip ailment when rumours abounded not so long ago about him being caught smoking a "joint" and that his real problem was drug addiction.

What's ironic about it?

For what it is worth
I went to an Ardiles / Villa chat show events last week
Ossie said and I know it could be party line but
Lamela picked up the injury circa 10 games into the season It was not thought to be serious and he was told to rest. Went back to training and it not only wasnt better but deteriorated. They have been trying all sorts of experts in the field US/Spain and remedy but to no avail so ended up having an op. said it was a top top surgeon. Again emphasise it was hearsay but Ossie did say it was potentially career threatening. Finally said that it was expected/hoped latest op to resolve problem

I honestly think that Lamela being out gave Son more game time than he would otherwise have had and he grabbed his opportunity to have an outstanding season. In a 4-2-3-1 who would be left out to accommodate Lamela ? In a 3-4-2-1 he could only play at wing back and could he really do that job better than Rose ? He could maybe compete with Davies.
I have no problem with him and in fact he could play a viable role when Eriksen needs a rest because he's the only other player we have who can play those killer balls. But with the emergence of Winks and Onomah likely to be pushed through, the possible signing of Sessegnon and our pretty much settled first choice team I can only see him as a squad player next season. Which is fine.
