What game are you even talking about? 2015? When he was subbed with 15 minutes to go cost us the game?

That mean son who came on For him is so inferior and that the gaping hole lamela left made they whole team crumble and concede a goal because we are useless without him?

You either rate lamela even higher than me or what you're saying totally does not compute

I don't get how this is so hard to understand for some people.

Away to Arsenal, yes in 2015.

We conceded 2 minutes after Lamela went off, the cross came from the side he was playing on.

Lamela was working hard and pressing and keeping up the high intensity game for us. But he was also being reckless and committing a lot of fouls, having already been booked. In case you're not aware, a red card for him would have seen us play with 10 men for the last 15 minutes. Taking him off was unfortunately the only option for Poch. Our intensity dropped and the pressing disintegrated. So yes, Lamela did cost us a win that day through his sheer lack of discipline or use of his brain.

My point is, although he appears to press well with intensity, he is not very good at tackling, which was the initial comment when someone suggested he could play at left wing back. Which he couldn't.

I actually don't rate Lamela that highly at all. I think if he hadn't suffered an injury last season he would have kicked on for us after his start to the season. But he's not first choice anymore. He isn't getting into our front 4 unless there's rotation or injury. And even at that, he's too slow to move the ball compared to how our front 4 finished the season, West Ham game aside.

Obviously if we get worse when he goes off it's because he adds to us. We can always tone down his aggression rather than develop someone like sissoko.

I agree. He did add to us. It doesn't make it any less his fault that he had to come off before he was sent off.

But my initial post which people jumped on was in reply to someone who said he could play at Left wing back. Which he definitely couldn't. He can't tackle.

His third, superb, album came out in 2016.

Shows how out of touch I am! Bought that a couple of months ago, blind (thinking it was a soundtrack as I hadn't heard they had done a third album) and took it back after one listen, swapped it for Sempre Femina by Laura Marling, which is also not a patch on her first two albums (though still very listenable).

Sorry it's so off topic. But, best I keep my talk to the banal in Lamela threads.

We're talking about Bon Iver now? Just another day in the Lamela thread lol
Isn't there a thread for that? Lamela i mean.

TBH, its better talking about Bon Iver then how much meow meow Coco has done in the last 6 months. At least Bon Iver actually exists.

So he's calling his sonTobias... which is Toby's full name. Would he really have named him after TA? Are they super tight. Or is this just a ploy to make sure a Toby stays at Spurs.

Érik Lamela is not expected to be in contention to play until October, meaning that he will have been sidelined by a hip injury for a year.

The Tottenham Hotspur midfielder had separate operations on his hip in Barcelona in the past three months and has started his rehabilitation work in the swimming pool in his native Argentina.

Lamela only made 14 appearances last season, the most recent of which came in the 2-1 defeat by Liverpool in the EFL Cup fourth round on October 25.

Tottenham have not put a timescale on his return after a frustrating season. He returned to Argentina late last year to deal with a family matter, while he also spent much of January working with Damiano Stefanini, the physiotherapist at Roma, his former club.

His extended absence led to suggestions he was unhappy in England but Mauricio Pochettino, the Tottenham manager, has ruled out selling him. Lamela was in discussions to extend his contract beyond 2019 at the time of his injury. He joined from Roma in 2013 for a fee which could reach £30 million.

Personally hate to say it but I think his time is done as Spurs, it's hard to see him recovering from being out from such a long time.

He could still make it back to 100% because of his age. His biggest threat is slipping further back in the pecking order. A year is a long time in football especially in a team that is moving forward.

So fucking unlucky. Rose, Son, Lamela all sidelined for the start of the season. Our injuries never end.
