Seems to lack self confidence big time IMO. He is regularly getting himself into excellent positions and then seems to loose his nerve. On Sunday I was regularly shouting at the TV for him to run straight at the Hull defense and make them foul him or let him through for a shot on goal. Instead he was turning sideways and running across their defensive line and not causing them any problems.

He has the talent just needs to believe in himself.

He isn't going anywhere, certainly not in January.

His value has undeniably decreased and I strongly doubt Levy will be able to accept a loss on him. He is improving (slowly) and still young, an investment that spurs should hold on to.

That and I love him

The lad seriously needs to bulk up. He's embarrassingly lightweight at times.

UTD have always conditioned their players properly and we should do exactly the same.

Really feel a few squats, deads, pull ups and bench would help him both physically and mentally.
Agreed. Strap him to a weights bench and feed him full of protein!
We had a kid that was a jinx for how many games? He reminds me of him. I think he has more raw ability!
Given time and the right diet and guidence he will be ok!

He always holds on to the ball too long, and much like Soldado, if he ever gets into a scoring position, you always feel he will somehow manage to fluff his lines. We live in hope.

Agreed. This summer, we need to give Mason and Lamela beds in the weight room, and whilst they slumber IV egg whites into their jugulars. They cannot leave this living situation until Lamela can bench 135 x 20 and Mason can run without the coaches wincing at every step for fear of snapping.

Lamela reminds me a bit of C Ronaldo when he first joined Utd.. All the flashy step overs and stuff but not much end product. They stuck with it though and we know how it panned out for them. Give Lamela time and he'll shine for us.

Sometimes he tries too much instead of the easy ball but I think he'll be our new superstar in a couple of years. He is still a lad.

I think he will look much better once Walker is back providing an overlap and some width, it will make Lamela himself less predictable and harder to defend as he won't always be cutting inside as he will have an outlet in Walker to play the ball too as well as his own runs inside

No offence, i personally like Lamela and also think he will be a star for us. However, at times this season he's had either rose or davies bombing past him on the left with loads of space and he hasn't passed. Why would he to walker??

There's a significant difference between him playing on the left to the right, what with him being so left footed

Personally I think on the right with a fullback overlapping him it will benefit his game more than playing on the left with an overlapping full back

At the very least Walker's runs will give the defenders more to occupy them and give Lamela some extra space in his more natural role (which he doesn't currently have when playing RWF and isn't natural on the left wing as he likes to cut inside)

I really want to see Lamela play in a functioning Spurs side before I make any real judgement. It's not easy to perform well as an individual when the team struggles like it currently does.

But that could be an excuse for everybody. Somebody has to stand up and show their quality. They all do.

thats a very gopd point, i forget that he's been playing with 2nd and 3rd choice (and occasionally 4th choice) right backs behind him all season.
