If the player had really wanted to move in Jan, he could have dug his heels in and forced it through with Inter. At the moment he seems in no rush to leave Brazil...

Spurs did agree deal for Damiao on 31 Jan. Collapsed at 4/5pm as Internacional suddenly said he could only go in summer#bbcsportsday #thfc

No talks until Inter decided late Jan to sell. Deal quickly agreed, only for Inter to change terms last minute. #Thfc thought it was done.

Well that certainly would explain the why the ITKs put their heads on the block saying it was as close as could be.

I just don't understand why we would go back for him, when we have failed to deal successfully with these guys in the last few windows. Why did we think that would change?

I sometimes think the partnership may be that we pretend we are in for a top player and they pretend they are fending off a big European club when infact nothing is happening.

Don't know why people are saying "Fuck him" etc at Damiao it sounded like all personal terms were agreed, it's either his club or these 'silent' 3rd parties that keep screwing us over. I'm confident that if they weren't involved he'd already be playing for us.

Also the agreement thingy we have with Inter is just based on business and infrastructure, a kind of information swap if you like and we've helped them improve their commercial activities etc. Nothing to do with first options or anything player related. I think we just pulled the wool over they're eyes with the Sandro deal

You got some statistical evidence to back that up?

Smells of Inter trying to generate interest to up the price. Why move in the summer, when they are currently in their off season? makes no sense.

Sounds like Inter have no intention of selling but need an excuse for the deal not to go through when someone, Spurs, offer a lot of money.

I dont know why they would want to keep him til the summer and we would never agree a deal for the summer as his value will go down tbh

They have a high wage which considering they havent got CL makes no sense to keep as they will be playing sunday league team for the next couple of months

They dont need Leandro to win their league imo, also the fact he isnt getting in to the brazil squad doesnt help his value especially when he is behind Fred

Surely Leandro should be kicking down the clubs door demanding a move to us! I mean we're Spurs, he should be grateful we've come back so often

He shows no urgency to join us and his club can't make their minds up when or if to sell him. Please let us move on, there are more fish in the sea.

The summer is a weird time because it is the middle of their season! Imagine they are top by, say, 1 point, will they sell Damiao? I doubt it.. just more stalling tactics.

I dont think they stalled as his price will slowly sale go down, I think they tried to bleed us dry and as I said before the issue imo has always been the chairmen not the player

We seem to be targeting players who are owned by people who renowned for their brinkmanship i.e. Shakhtar, Porto, Inter, Lyon and Seville

Only Lyon are the club that we have signed a player from who is known to have a Basterd of a chairmen. The last one before that was Sandro from Inter and tbh that took a year to getting going

Hopefully none else are willing to pay what Inter want (and this is pretty likely in todays market when you look at clubs like Juventus bringing in a freebie and none else really looking at Damiao) and he bleed their bank empty in wages.

So we got messed about by them for Oscar and now LD for fuck knows how many times. Some flippin partnership we have with them. Screw them, let them keep him and we look elsewhere. Surely our network of scouts can find us a alyernative who would actually want to play for our club!!! Once the WC is over next year every **** in Brazil will be dying to come over to Europe to play!!!

I don't think the coach is that keen on only selecting local talent. I think that was the previous manager

I have to say that i am getting rather cynical about this whole thing now. When you add what has happened here to our audatious last minute bid for Aguero two years ago on the last day of Jan, it does seem that there is a Levy led PR spin to all this.

Honestly, given the relationship we have with Inter, the numerous discussions we've had with them over Leandro, as well as Sandro and Oscar in the past, and with this news being leaked now, i think this is all one big PR piece for us fans to believe that we truly are after players of that quality/price. It may even be for the purpose of apeasing players like Bale, who are likely weighing up their options right now for whether they will stay or go in the summer.

I think this is clearly backed up by our open interest in Willian - surely we must have known very early on that Shaktar were looking to sell for upwards of £25-30m (final price was £34m ffs) and so at that point it should be clear that THFC will never be buying that player from Shaktar.
