Elland Road is one of the few major grounds in this country I haven't been to, bring them back!

it's a grotty looking shit-hole last time i was there... then again, it was about 11.15pm and i was in a broken down transit van with a burst eardrum.

It just looks like it's been abandoned - weeds growing out the tarmac and between slabs, a faint green fur growing along the damp course - just grim really.

I was there for the '95 semi final. The place smelt of shit...though that smell might have come from our defence. :-|

I was there for the 72 cup game - the atmosphere was both awesome and terrifying - i think someone compared it to the Nuremberg Rally - couldn't comment on that - but that big terracing they had - think it was behind the goal Jack charlton scored in - whooh steep scary and noisy

Elland Road always has a wicked atmosphere. It's in a shithole part of Leeds on the outskirts and it looks a little unkept around there but once you get inside it's awesome.

At least Tottenham has character. I'm not sure of any other ground in the country where the main road is laced with fruit stalls instead of dirty burger vans - I love my big bag of grapes for £1 on a matchday walking up the high road :-D

Don' get any of that at Leeds...

Main problem with Elland Road is that it's built right next to the motorway, it's one of the first things you see as you drop away from the M621 - litter, dirt, grey concrete and right in the middle of apparent industrial estate type settings... just ugh.

and on that note, just had a gander at Google maps at the place, to refresh my memory of breaking down in that shitty transit, and noticed that the annual off-season groundsman try-outs aren't going so well when it came to the line-painting round

Would you rather have a weak Premiership or have strong competition. I for one am bored of the same 4 teams cleaning up. We're no different from the SPL. I'd rather get rid of the Bolton's, Wigan's etc etc and have teams like Leeds, Nottm Forest and Sheff Wed. Big clubs, big support and most of all big aspirations. Clubs like these wouldn't accept rolling over and taking it up the ass from the big 4 and playing in their own 2nd half mini league

What do you mean these teams wouldn't roll over etc?? each one of them has been relegated, hows that for rolling over?

l lived there for 4 years while at Uni 1979-83. Great place to be a student but truly horrible place to be an away supporter. Saw some memorable matches including the one where Miller chinned Ray Hankin and got marched. Also one where Glenn played in goal for Aleksic.
Even got into trouble watchin Leeds v Man Utd walking with 10 non committed mates. Leeds fans didn't like the idea of neutrals:) Very nearly all off.
Funniest thing I saw was the way the whole place emptied when the Newcastle fans were let out of the ground. They chased the buses in an attempt to get the Leeds fans. It was a controversial match in which Keegan played.
Also at that Spurs v Leeds game with Mackay/ Bremner. Mackay actually reacted to Bremner fouling Greaves.
Yes I would like to see them reach the EPL again....they are real...have history and it always felt good to beat them.

Hi SQ - like you was at that 'Mackay game' - - doubtless Bremner was trying to foul/fouling Greavesie - (who didn't he try to foull :) (apparently Bobby Charlton was the only one he went easy on - I remember reading once)

however I'm sure I've read more than once Mackay say it was the fact that he was trying to break his 'dodgy leg' that incensed him and caused the ruckus - maybe it was a bit of both and more besides - let's face it whenever Bremner and Giles were on the pitch they were at it - not to mention hunter Charlton and probably a few others

Sorry, but where does this idea that Leeds are a 'big' club come from? Prior to 1969 they were mostly famous for having John Charles on their books before he went to Juve, and had won stuff all except for a couple of Second Division titles and the League Cup. They had about six years of real success, returned to being nonentities, and then bought their way to a few more seasons in the big-time before crashing and burning.

Don't want them back at all. I hope Doncaster thrash them and they slide down to League Two next season. It couldn't happen to a nicer club.
