How any one can say that Berbatov is a legend is beyond me...

..well it's all subjective, as Flatters says he's only 20 so would never have seen Hoddle play, but no doubt understands what he meant to thousands of others. I'm too young to remember Ditchburn, but I've been told by my peers he was better than Jennings. You can only go by what you've grown up with. Is Berba better than Greaves? IMO no. Is Greaves a bigger legend than Hoddle? Possibly. Is Freund more of a legend than Pratt? Not in a million years.

I said Ledley, not Berba.

My dad's always telling me about Hoddle, so I want to say Hoddle is the greatest legend, but it wouldn't make sense for me to. As you say, I've never seem him play. I've just seen some awesome clips of him.

1. He keeps at least half a dozen large-breasted ladies on the go at once.

2. Even though he’s engaged to a page 3 model.

3. Shags Danielle Lloyd then dumps her.

4. Pisses her off so much she tries to ruck him and whatever tarty-piece he's with when they meet in a club.

5. Gets filmed by the BBC, in a church, declaring God is his inspiration.

Jermaine Defoe - Legend!

Yeah I was just using it as a comparison. I'd go for Ledley above Berba, but Perryman above Ledders. Greaves above Perryman. It comes down to who you've seen over the years. To some Blanchflower is more of a legend than Hoddle.

I go for Hoddle as he was home grown and IMO the classiest player to wear the white shirt.

I've seen all the Spurs greats live since and including the double team - and for me Berbs is a legend - he's a true Spurs player in the great tradition og Graves Hoddle Ginola etc -

he's been a vital part in us winning a major trophy - he could play in any spurs team of any era he's that good - he is in fact a legend

Another slightly different slant on this debate is this. Consider the people you have met around the world in the past 20 odd years who you told you were a Spurs supporter. On countless occasions I have been told by such people that Spurs are a team they have always had a soft spot for.....primarily because they remember watching Glenn Hoddle weave his magic. There is no one who comes close. Hoddle is the person who raised our stocks on the broader world stage. I have lived in the States, Israel, the cold harsh north and now Oz but the story is always the same. Hoddle is remembered as the Spurs legend. That is no disrespect to Greaves who is also remembered but not in the same way. Hoddle defined the way we played, who we were and he did it over an extended period. Interestingly Bryan Robson was seen as the arch-typal English player at the time but his name dims today in comparison to how Glenn is remembered.
My Legends are Hoddle, Perryman, Jennings in that order. I saw their careers from start to finish at Tottenham. Keano is a fair player but it would devalue the term to call him a Spurs legend IMO. Berbatov is a wonderful player and I feel he does epitamize what a Spurs player should be. However, I know he has probably done much of his best stuff elsewhere and feel we should to enjoy him while we can. His window of Spurs greatness will be a mere cameo of his career much like that of Klinnsman.

not sure about sicknote??

i think the fallow years take away just how important he was to us in the 90's. tremdous passer, worker wonderful crosser... his assists stats were year on year very high and his goals return especailly for the middle 3 seasons was very decent. Represented the club well as and England player too.

Don't forget this list for the last 25 years. 83 onwards...

i should have put ossie in there though

i love both keano and berba but to try and compare these guys with hoddle is a joke because on his day he could have played for any team in the world. club or country

Pat Van Den Hauwe?
Hahahaha - Razor Ruddock, Justin Edinburgh and Nayim!!

Actually, wasn't David Howells included in a 'legends' parade recently? The word 'legend' is definitely every bit as overused as 'world class'.

I loved Hodd he's my fave ever player - but it certainly isn't a joke to compare Berb with Hodd as a player (not of course as a Spurs player - cos of Hodd's length of service)

because for sure on his day Berbs could play for any team in the world. club or country

in fact I'm not sure he isn't a better player overall than Hodd - that's a close call and one I wouldn't want to make - but it is a close call

Hoddle - sick in the head though.
King - just always sick
Gazza - lost the plot
mabbutt - arrogant little man
Linekar - tim nice but dim
Sheringham - classic
waddle - again classic but faded fast
Ginola - this 20 a day man was a legend for who ever he played for
Anderton - not worth a mention, had a worse injury list ever
Keane - a god, out and out blue blooded spurs man
klinnsman - world class in any team
Berbatov - world class but jeeese what a winger
