"Phil Jones has reportedly turned down the chance to have a testimonial at Manchester United because he assumes no one will turn up.

The 27-year-old has been at Old Trafford since signing from Blackburn in 2011 and put pen to paper on a new four-year contract in February this year. Unless he is sold before then, the defender will hit his 10-year anniversary as a United player in June 2021, allowing him the opportunity for a testimonial match.

However, Jones has turned down the opportunity, with the Athletic reporting that he said: ‘Apart from my mum and dad, who else would turn up?’."
