I don’t think there is any chance Southgate leaves Sterling out of the WC. In fact, Southgate probably has him in the starting XI.

Yep, and no doubt Slabhead will be brought back from the dead too.

My sense of 'excitement' ahead of the WC is diminishing by the hour.

How long will they give Potter ? Till next summer and make a change then ?
He was undefeated in nine and breezed through the CL group despite them having lost in Zagreb under Tuchel. One really bad defeat against Brighton isn't enough to start serious speculation on how long they'll keep him.

Chelsea will give him until middle of next season before reviewing whether he's good enough, based on previous experience.

I guess it'll be a case of seeing how the new owners differ from the previous regime. Potter is an excellent manager but he isn't a big name so he probably won't be given benefit of the doubt by the fan base for long.

I read on their forum. Their issue with him is they don’t seem to have any football identity and like us he’s playing a back 3 when they have too many injuries meaning they can’t play that way.
Plus he keeps playing forwards at wing back which isn’t working yet he keeps doing it and they should have lost 3 more games if it wasn’t for kepa apparently

I think they'll look very different after the World Cup break. Potter's a system manager and those types tend not to get their ideas across that well if they take a club mid-season.

Plus he's Boehly's man. The main reason Tuchel was sacked was because the board wanted their man in charge, not the Russian's. They will only bin him off by the summer if things go spectacularly wrong in the second half of the season.

Not sure that's completely true. He's shown he can and will adapt his system depending on who the opposition is. It's one of the things that makes him different to the other managers in the top 6 and means Chelsea have far greater tactical flexibility than the rest of us because of that.

Arsenal home then Newcastle away before the world cup break. That's a real tough test for them at this point in the season. They also have a cup tie with City sandwiched in between.

This. They haven't been playing well at all (potter and kettle. Ba doom cha).
Been shit lucky to win several recent games but the media just seem to focus on results. Its like they dont watch the games.
TS were bigging up Newcastle this morning, 'they went toe to toe with Tottenham'.... err, well I was at the game and thats not what I saw. They did next to fk all but hoof it forward for the most part and if you took away those pathetic goals we gifted them they did nothing. Think they cut us open once.
Anyway, Chelsea, definitely wobbling.
I always question how are big time Charlies gonna react to someone like Potter. I think it'll be a car crash. Clubs too big for him.
