always felt he was wasting time, trying to take the game to pens. maybe he did strain or sprain something, but i didn't think i was as serious as they made it out to be.
But i wonder... did Sarri want to bring on Willy.... after all, mind games against city, he will know the players the best and i am sure had a few penalty drills against them.
Like @worcestersauce says, it's unusual for a keeper to get cramp. It seems quite plausible that he was just trying to disrupt the flow of the game to prevent City from building up momentum. The ref has to stop play and allow time for the keeper to recover - more so than for outfield players anyway.
I don't think Sarri was thinking of bringing Cabellero on for any other reason than the injury. There was no indication that he wanted to make a change until the guy goes down again. His job is hanging by a thread and if he'd brought on his second choice keeper and he hadn't won the match then he'd be facing even more questions about his decision making.
Sarri admitting publicly that it was a 'misunderstanding' is interesting though. He's said that there was no injury so will he play Kepa against us on Wednesday? He's in a no win situation now. If he plays him he looks weak again. If he doesn't then he's admitting that he thought it was more than just a misunderstanding and the team will be without their first choice goalkeeper (although Caballero is probably no worse than Kepa who looks very average).
