No. The government aren’t going to get involved with a sports league, and the premier league don’t have any mechanism or desire to punish teams for their owners actions. I suspect one of the main reasons Chelsea have been given licence to continue operating is that them being frozen completely would cause chaos to the premier league. The government have no appetite to cause any damage to English football. The premier league have no appetite to get involved in geo politics.Any chance of them being sanctioned even more and deducted 20 points?
Thoughts about trophies being given back, or points being deducted are fantasy I am afraid.
If however Chelsea go into administration as a result of their accounts being frozen, then they’ll likely get a points deduction.
