Out of interest, who would you have from those players over any of our best eleven?

Roberton, as wanted him last summer before they got him.

Keita, as we need someone like him in engine room.

Clyne is arguable as before injury he was a superb right-back and also liked him going back to early Crystal Palace days, but also would like KWP to be given chance for us.

Salah, to me seems a bit of a twat but him and Kane combining would be sexy stuff.

It's also not completely about comparing line-ups, its a nasty feeling I have that their system and players in it will suit them really well and make them dangerous.

On our day we are superb but we also have days when we just can't break opponents down and without investment they are catching us.

seems like they'll still likely end up Fekir too. Impressive team on paper for sure, although not very homegrown :S

It's a whole lot of spending in the last 2 years, if they don't finish above us with our zero spend its highly embarrassing and they should all be sacrificed to the Lord of Light, with anfield turned into something more useful like a salvation army

I think Allison, TAA, van Dijk, Keita, Mane and Salah would all probably start for our team, a.

I would not argue Fabinho whatsoever and I'd also say no to Allison and TAA (though both have scale to improve way beyond current level, especially TAA).

I'll give you the other four, definitely.

Sorry guys, but I'm wondering why you think van Dijk would start for us. At the moment we have Vertonghen, Alderweireld and Sanchez.
If we play a back 3, there's no-one in the league taking a place from any of those, they've got everything between them, and if we play a 2, Toby and Jan have proven themselves to be amongst the best pairings in the world. Sanchez looks to me like he's going to be something special, and I would prefer to see him in a 2 over van Dijk because of that pace, he's already saved us quite a few times with it when other players just wouldn't have been able to get back.

The irony when Karius write on his own instagram that he feel sorry for anyone that revel in other's misfortune and failure after himself standing in line waiting for his turn to make fun of Kane. Not so fun when it's happening to you is it? Fuck him

Agreed. Especially as Harry Kane had been through something similar himself...

Liverpool have brought players with next to nothing premier experience .I’m sure they’ll all turn out just fine BUT it’s going to take them time to settle.

Man City will be the team to beat we have a chance if we can start well . I see this coming season to be very tight for all concerned

Liverpool's PR team must have such a wad behind them. Top stories for absolute non-stories on BBC and Guardian. Again. All summer long.

The bbc is getting on my tits, so much for being an impartial reporter of news, every day now there has been a non story either on their football section or even this morning on the breakfast show, they are getting as bad as BT sport.

Liverpool have spent the most this summer, making high profile signings so of course they are going to grab the headlines in an otherwise dull summer post world cup and pre prem starting

They were really poor till Salah came on surprise surprise against basically a city kids team. I don’t really get the thinking starting your pre season games in early July they’ve already played about 6 one every 3 days. Managers always go on how they have no time to work with players, surely pre season is that time seems odd.

When the headlines start becoming "Klopp the best at tying shoe laces" and "Why what Klopp eats for breakfast makes him a hero" though it starts becoming a little trying...

No it's not just that. The BBC do far more coverage of Liverpool than any other team and it's been that way for a while. This is their current front page of football. I've highlighted every story involving Liverpool in some way with a red box. Even if it's a general story about the premier league, they manage to squeeze a photo of Klopp in.

Headline from SSN this morning - "Liverpool stun Man City"
I took a look at the starting line-ups:
Mahrez would be the only City player to play regularly next season, with Sane & Bernardo Silva appearing as subs
Meawhile Liverpool fielded Karius, Van Diijk, Clyne, Robertson, Wijnaldum, Fabinho, Milner, Lallana & Sturridge from the start, with Mane & Salah coming on as subs.
Liverpool should have won at a canter, not with a 94th minute penalty.
